Slight tangent: maybe this is just an online thing since I hardly ever hear it in real life, but I do not understand the mean comments towards short men (especially from women who are still shorter than them). You get all the benefits of man™ in compact form. What’s not to like??

I'm 5'3 and my last girlfriend was 5'10. That relationship was pretty good and she seemed happy for like a year but she did tell me once that she wished I was taller though and also ended up cheating on me so who knows...
Damn, I’m sorry 🫂 that is a flaw with her character and not your height though.
I don't get it either. I'm 5'4", my first boyfriend was 5'1", and it was fine? It lasted less than a year in highschool, but I remember it fondly.
Sometimes they're less of a short king and more like a small jester
The world could do with fewer kings and more jesters.
The last girl I dated was 5'10", and I'm 6'1", for comparison, but when we sat down next to each other, she was a good 2", taller than me, because my legs are much longer than hers, but my torso is shorter.
If she had my legs, she would have been 6'3", and if I had hers, I would have been 5'8"
This is too much math for me right now
Leg big, look smaller.
If it makes you feel better, it kind of hurt my brain for a minute, too. And I'm supposed to be good at math.
It boils down to my legs are 5 inches longer than her legs, so adding 5 inches to her height by swapping legs would take 5 inches from my height, and the reason why our individual heights are different afterwards is because of the 2 inch differences in our torsos.
Most people don't really know what they want until they've had their perspective is broadened.
Filtering people out based on specific physical attributes is wild in my opinion. So glad I found my partner before that became 'normal'.
That being said I'm speaking for full fledged adults. We have research now that suggests adolesence extends to age 32. I wouldn't be suprised if people in their 20s were overly focussed on the concept of a perfect physical match in their search for a partner, just from my memory of living through that age.
In general I think it's fine if people know what they want and look for it. The weird/problematic thing IMO is that this became something of a trend (although still exaggerated by social media), where it's not just a small selection of people with very specific preferences. I agree it's dumb to restrict yourself like that, especially if you just do it because other people do it and not because it's actually a core requirement for attraction.
Also adolescence extending to 32 makes about as much sense to me as green extending all the way to blue. We don't need to call people children to recognize they do be silly sometimes
i’ve looked at dating apps in a few different cities… in some places they’re downright mean about it…
i dated a 5’10 girl before who liked much taller men so she” could wear heels”.
not that she ever did, but she could…
some of them are just mean about their preferences….
i mean, people like what they like, but that 1% who’s mean about it fucks with short guys.
Hell adolescence to 32 is pushing green into purple territory. At a certain point you have to just accept that early adulthood involves a lot of growth, maturing, and continued development.
I think you touched on how social pressure can make it toxic.
By no means advocating for a change in how we define adulthood but a recent paper looking at topographical turning points in the brain identified adolescence as extending from 9 to 32 years of age which explains a lot in my view.
I think y'all are missing the point. It should say "6 feet" guys. I'm a 5'11" guyand have been taller than a lot of guys who've claimed to be 6 feet. So add heels onto 5'8"+ and they are def making them look small because they were lying about their height to begin with.
My boss once asked how tall I was (we were the same height), and I said "are you asking for real, or as a guy?" And he said "I think as a guy?" So I said, "oh, I'm 5'10" and he was happy.
Because guys my height all seem to say they are 5'10". I am between 1-2 inches shorter than that, 173cm now, maybe 174 back then.
So, in my (admittedly limited) experience, medium height dudes do round up a couple inches usually.
It's the heels.
Lol yep. Fun perk of being 5'11"
Am short, fuck tall women (not exclusively, but repeatedly in both contexts [multiple taller women multiple times each]) without lying about height (doesn't hurt that my shoe size is 2+ avg for my height, if you catch my drift.) Go for it guys many women aren't that shallow, and for the ones that are:
I'll still be the first to call out bodyshaming short dudes and ask how much a bodyshaming woman weighs ("really fatty, no short guys? The taller woman I'm currently fucking is 110 soaking wet, which she often is for my short ass")[that said I have also had sex with bigger women and enjoyed it and would again, but they were nice people, fatshaming is just eye for an eye fun, not for real people only shortshamers.]
Sorry for the ADHD parenthesis because every thought has multiple bonus thoughts, but body shaming either needs to be all ok (not preferred) or not ok to do to men either (preferred.)* I can meet in the middle and plastic surgery shame all genders, but that's it (at least that is an intentional choice.)
*Retaliatory shaming to make a point aside
