Took me a good while to read it as 11 so it is pretty confusing tbf

<> I i L l

Had to copy the character and paste i elsewhere to see that it was not two letters.

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Yep I couldn't understand why they chose to use Roman notation. To be honest though 11 is a weird age cut off to have picked.

[–] Chrobin@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 12 hours ago (1 children)

They probably decided on 10 or below, but it didn't sound as catchy in the marketing

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 2 points 11 hours ago (1 children)

people kept thinking it was binary for 2 during audience testing

[–] echodot@feddit.uk 1 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

Binary for three. Two would be 1 0 which would then get confused with 10 which would actually take us full circle.

[–] tetris11@feddit.uk 1 points 3 hours ago

That's why the changed it from 10 to 11 during testing, because people kept thinking it meant 2

[–] swiftywizard@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 11 hours ago

I really do not understand, now is that supposed to mean II or XI?

[–] hereiamagain@sh.itjust.works 173 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Same. It actually took me a second to get the joke, then I realized I was the joke

[–] essell@lemmy.world 27 points 1 day ago (2 children)

Me too. I was looking around for the funny. It was me.

Guilty. I used the sum symbol for a fancy "E" riffling through my phone keyboards. I know there is a better ascii character.

[–] rwrwefwef@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 minutes ago

It's not an E; it's a Sigma standing in for summation.

I was initially like, "really, under 2? Cheapass county can't even cover kids under 10?"

My foolishness knows no bounds

[–] Tournesol@feddit.fr 14 points 1 day ago

it's just an error in font, I took a minute to find the real meaning of this ad 😬

[–] kambusha@sh.itjust.works 3 points 1 day ago

Kids under aye-aye

[–] huquad@lemmy.ml 13 points 22 hours ago

Clearly they mean under 3

  5 10
 101 1010

I think I solved it

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 1 points 11 hours ago

I think it’s

 8 11

Which is in Roman numerals

VIII XI

But also works in arabic numerals

 5 10
 3 1

 8 11

Is this loss?

[–] reev@sh.itjust.works 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

In print, yes, in hand written maths I don't mind the line

[–] SpaceNoodle@lemmy.world 6 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Until there's a lowercase L, or you're taking the absolute value of something ...

[–] toynbee@piefed.social 2 points 11 hours ago

I don't really handwrite anything these days, but my brother always taught me to put a little upturned curve at the bottom of letters to differentiate them from similar-looking numbers.

[–] redbeardgecko@lemmy.world 9 points 22 hours ago

So did one to be honest

Kids under or travel free

[–] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 30 points 1 day ago

At first I tough that that was a big ass kid for being under 2yo.

I think in order to see a major unified system font update, we are going to need two huge corporations battle each other in court.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 3 points 20 hours ago

No, but seriously. What the fuck?

[–] qwestjest78@lemmy.ca 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

That kid is clearly not under 2 though. Should be that all kids ride free

[–] X@piefed.world 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The fine print:

*Picture is for illustrative purposes only, and is not an accurate depiction of children under II years of age. Please ensure that your child(ren) meet(s) the eligibility requirements as shown. This transit system shall not be liable for the outcome of any child 11 years of age who use it.

[–] RampantParanoia2365@lemmy.world 1 points 20 hours ago* (last edited 20 hours ago)

It is too, accurate for kids under eleven.

[–] nonentity@sh.itjust.works 2 points 22 hours ago

It’s an homophonic alliteration in binary.

Kids under three ride free.

[–] espentan@lemmy.world 2 points 23 hours ago

Let's Do London.. hmm..

[–] Chick0nPlayz@lemmy.world 1 points 21 hours ago

I'd prefer London do me

[–] sudoMakeUser@sh.itjust.works 2 points 1 day ago
