Let's not gloss over this part:

...that the Department of Homeland Security had also posted a few hours earlier.

It's all fucked up. I can only hope Easmin's family sues and get a massive payout for the extra trauma inflicted by having this tragedy exploited for political purposes by both DHS and Trump. Truly ghoulish.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 50 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

It sucks that tax payers will end up paying that bill.

The individuals who committed the act the and law makers who enabled it should have to pay...judges too for not stopping it

[–] fiat_lux@lemmy.world 35 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Eh, at least this money would go to innocent people and put back into their community's economy. Not like the money spent on Palantir and the White House nuclear winter ballroom.

[–] Typotyper@sh.itjust.works 10 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I may be simple but i see it as:

People who do bad things should be held accountable.

Where are the Epstein files?

[–] SaraTonin@lemmy.world 78 points 3 weeks ago

Given that Melanie has just made a completely unprompted speech about how she totally was never friends with Maxwell, i suspect that something new is about to drop

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 35 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

We are way past that. He’s distracting from his loss to Iran.

[–] Maiq@piefed.social 39 points 3 weeks ago

I won't be "past that" till the victims get justice.

[–] sigmaklimgrindset@sopuli.xyz 36 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

We are NOT past that. That's what he wants. We haven't even gotten 10% of what the FBI have.

For anyone who wants to browse what the public do have:

EpsteinExposed - for deep dives of who is involved and how everyone is linked

JMail - gmail format archive of his emails, easier to browse by contacts/specific persons of interest

I still have an ai gif somewhere of trump getting decked by Zelenskyy from a good while ago.

The only thing by AI I've ever seen that makes me feel good. Even if just for a second.

[–] GuyFawkesV@lemmy.world 112 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Fuck the 25th. We need Secret Service to man up.

The Roman Praetorian Guard reborn. Hopefully less bribery.

It's about fear mongering the voters. Deranged way to do it still wtf.

[–] newthrowaway20@lemmy.world 62 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

He's distracting from Epstein.

[–] tonytins@pawb.social 42 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago) (1 children)

He brought up Epstein to distract from the a pointless war only to now attempt to distract Epstein again. Trump is just tumbling down an endless flight of stairs at this point.

I figured this was to distract from the war he started and lost that was to distract from the Trump Epstein files.

[–] Red0ctober@lemmy.world 52 points 3 weeks ago

What an absolute ghoul.

[–] TropicalDingdong@lemmy.world 42 points 3 weeks ago

What the fuck?

[–] TwodogsFighting@lemdro.id 40 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 13 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

[–] oopsgodisdeadmybad@lemmy.zip 5 points 2 weeks ago

[–] LadyButterfly@reddthat.com 5 points 2 weeks ago

As I’ve said all along, if you import the Third World, you become the Third World

You know I think this is the closest my aggressively pragmatic self comes to feeling the juxtaposition of sacred and profane. There are two metrics that we use to describe our species: intelligence and prosocial behavior, and this flapping husk shits on both.

[–] yakko@feddit.uk 20 points 3 weeks ago

I think along similar lines, but I've taken a third descriptor onboard: disaster-prone. A mirthless history professor once told me that "history is a litany of unintended consequences". Everything about the world and our history makes so much more sense if you mentally allow for the fact that we as a species tend to make rather absurd mistakes at scale, and now at the height of our global culture, our powers at their greatest, our need for common sense, tolerance, and cooperation at their most urgent in history due to impending climate collapse, geopolitical tension, and wealth inequality, the most powerful nation in history elected, twice, the most foolish, wicked man alive.

A single person is still intelligent and prosocial. I sincerely agree. But humanity i think has a critical mass at which point all of that is hidden behind layers of systematically disastrous behaviour.

[–] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 27 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Ironically, it is a video of an immigrant woman being murdered.

According to reports, the victim was from Bangladesh and had been working at a clerk at the convenience store.

But let’s focus on a cherry-pick and strawman instead of the proven pattern of “law enforcement” murdering brown people en masse.

[–] minorkeys@lemmy.world 27 points 3 weeks ago

So....literal murder porn?

[–] stoly@lemmy.world 25 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

What's amazing is that biden, obama, and hillary clinton are completely irrelevant yet Trump remains obsessed with them.

It's the Republican thinking, they have to remember and be victim of every slight to say their grievances are legitimate. Someone else has to be responsible for the problems in their lives and not the other way around.

Trump be nimble Trump be quick. Trump goes lower than a limbo stick.

[–] Panthenetrunner@lemmy.dbzer0.com 22 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It's somewhat trite to say "Trump has dementia", that's just been clearly evident for a while now. But even given that I feel like he's gotten so so much worse recently. Like, throwing the country into an unwinnable illegal war, threatening genocide over Easter, now he's posting snuff films? I feel like even people who correctly interpret that the dude's got some serious cognitive impairment going on still end up writing him a pass because "Trump's just crazy like that". But just given his behavior over the past few weeks It feels like his mental decline is accelerating quite a bit.

[–] GalacticGrapefruit@lemmy.world 18 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

He's pure evil. And anyone who likes him does so because they're evil too. Fuck anyone who makes excuses for this psychopath.

It's a distraction from the disastrous outcome of his vibe warmongering campaign in Iran, which itself was a distraction from the Epstein files.

[–] mech@feddit.org 10 points 3 weeks ago

In about a year or so, they'll nuke California to distract from the cannibalism.

[–] 4lan@lemmy.world 5 points 3 weeks ago

Might be related to whatever Melania's recent announcement about Epstein was about.
Might be some news dropping

[–] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 21 points 3 weeks ago

The absolute hilarity of this, insofar as there can be, is that ICE was involved in the arrest, meaning he is likely in federal custody awaiting deportation.

So there is a non zero chance this guy gets deported and faces no consequences.

[–] Nobody@anarchist.nexus 18 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

Does Trump still have the faculties to handle his social media posts, or is this Stephen Miller, et al?

Trump is as evil as can be, but he’s also hanging on by a thread. The ghouls around him are responsible for this to some degree that may turn out to be incredibly high.

[–] Triumph@fedia.io 22 points 3 weeks ago

Last couple of posts "from him" that I've read are way too cohesive to be actually from him. The most recent was obviously written by an LLM, em dashes and all.

[–] mcv@lemmy.zip 15 points 2 weeks ago

So why has Trump's ICE been busy deporting and killing innocents while ignoring this guy? Is it because this is in a red state and not in Minneapolis?
