Is there a list of "tags" we should be referring to? I want to ask the community for help finding a self-hosted alternative to a rather niche application. Would that be [Question] or [Help] or [Recommendation] or what?
Self Hosted - Self-hosting your services.
A place to share alternatives to popular online services that can be self-hosted without giving up privacy or locking you into a service you don't control.
Rules
- No harassment
- crossposts from c/Open Source & c/docker & related may be allowed, depending on context
- Video Promoting is allowed if is within the topic.
- No spamming.
- Stay friendly.
- Follow the lemmy.ml instance rules.
- Tag your post. (Read under)
Important
Beginning of January 1st 2024 this rule WILL be enforced. Posts that are not tagged will be warned and if not fixed within 24h then removed!
- Lemmy doesn't have tags yet, so mark it with [Question], [Help], [Project], [Other], [Promoting] or other you may think is appropriate.
Cross-posting
- !everything_git@lemmy.ml is allowed!
- !docker@lemmy.ml is allowed!
- !portainer@lemmy.ml is allowed!
- !fediverse@lemmy.ml is allowed if topic has to do with selfhosting.
- !selfhosted@lemmy.ml is allowed!
If you see a rule-breaker please DM the mods!
It's on the side panel of the sublemmy
So is this why people stopped posting here? Seems unnecessarily restrictive.
Why?
Tags lets posts be more organized and easy on the eye. Take it as reddits "flairs".
Why not wait until Lemmy introduces flairs?
I'm pretty sure many people will not see this post hence moderation will need to jump into this.
Is a pinned post, it appears at the top, it's also on the sidebar. Posts without a tag will be requested first to add one and if in 24h they dont do so then it'll be removed. I've been on this platform for 3 years and flairs haven't been added yet.
This post will be removed for not being tagged
Haha, well spotted, I'll tag it for ya!
You aren't going to apply this policy to existing posts, right?
Only to new ones posted after that date. Old posts will remain.
