They interviewed and filled out the online application and went through the 6 week background check process and credit checked these fuckers right?

I'mma be honest. If I'm shopping and see one of these things "working", I'm dropping everything I've selected for purchase where I stand and walking out. Nothing I can do, but vote with my wallet... so I will do that.

And here I can't get a job because apparently every GM or hiring manager goes on vacation the moment I go for an interview.

[–] atomicbocks@sh.itjust.works 1 points 16 minutes ago (1 children)

You are getting interviews?

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 2 points 8 minutes ago (1 children)

I mean I got one, and it was for a place a friend of mine works for already, so...

But when I texted him a couple days later, he said the GM was actually out of town.

In 18 months I have had 2 interviews out of hundreds of jobs applied, one of which ghosted me after the interview and the other relisted the job the next day…

If I know anything about their training, staring at their phones and avoiding eye contact with customers.

rtfa. they're doing a trial at distribution centers. this is mostly training for the AI at this point. there's no way they're putting these things to work in stores yet. one Flipper Zero incident away from losing a half a million dollars.

[–] Hideakikarate@sh.itjust.works 8 points 4 hours ago (1 children)

I should really get one of those. I have no idea what I'd do with it, but I want one.

[–] in_my_honest_opinion@piefed.social 1 points 47 minutes ago

They're expensive. You could learn a lot building your own if you want to.

https://github.com/proxytype/ZeroBro

Then once you start playing with ZeroBro you'll end up buying your own flipper lol.

Become the first generation ... the founding generation of the AI Robot Brotherhood ... that we will be battling in the global AI war in 2050.

The humanoid robots will first assistant employees in the facility’s Joey Pouch sorting system sequencing, a computerized induction, sorting and packing system. Moving forward, Figure and Catalyst will identify the best use cases for humanoid automation across the system. ~ from a different article

Imagine being employee working along side the thing that going make you unemployed and out on the street. What fuck no way would I put up with that.

I'm shocked that Amazon isn't putting this in its warehouses.

[–] Zahille7@lemmy.world 2 points 1 hour ago

It's iRobot happening in real time

[–] rain_enjoyer@sopuli.xyz 3 points 1 hour ago

they kinda do, it's called forklift

[–] Flower@sh.itjust.works 4 points 3 hours ago

Amazon already had this automated without humanoid robots. They don't need a drop-in solution, but they're most likely not selling this. https://youtu.be/0MCMB53jlIk

I was going to read the article but but jfc the ads. I decided to go watch ads on my computer instead. Soon I'm going to go drive in my car and look at ads. I will also play YouTube and watch ads. When I get home, I play to do a little ad surfing on the internet. After that I'm going to pick the best ads I saw and buy their products. Then I'm going to use their products while getting to view the ads associated with them.
