Translation: “we really would love to stop spending money on training new models in order for our financials to look better ahead of our IPO”

Using public benchmarks and previously unreported data from within Anthropic, The Anthropic Institute is showing that AI is already accelerating the development of AI systems. To take just one example: today, Anthropic engineers on average ship 8x as much code per quarter as they did from 2021-2025.

Yup. Lines of code as a metric is pure bait for investors.

[–] darkangelazuarl@lemmy.world 4 points 2 weeks ago

I can make a function that does the same thing in 8 lines of code that another function does in 8 lines. More often then not less is more with code. It's more efficient, easier to audit and has a smaller attack surface. So yeah bullshit metric indeed

If Anthropic's mouth is open, you can expect a lie.

Needs to be that everyone agrees at once, otherwise the Palantirs of the world will keep going.

The Palantirs of the world (and those like them who don't advertise their work) will only be stopping when they run out of resources.

If only there was a centralized institution that would set rules and enforce them to create equality and fairness while building equity socially beneficial.

(Insert image here of Trump building a Mad Max style fight cage on the White House.)

Also needs to be a statement made in good faith and not marketing bluster in the form of concern trolling.

the Palantirs of the world

Which are nurtured by Capitalism and the free marked cult. If I were a rich psychopath, the first propaganda/manipulation I would pay for, was to promote the economic system that is most valuable to me. We can see that the same propaganda campaigns have created/maintained the omni-present 'red scare' and there are STILL people this day that use words like 'Commies' and similar primitive propaganda dogmas. What a coincidence that the Epstein class just happens to agree on 100 free markets and dislike Communism/socialism and similar systems that take away their power. Big wonder.. The 'Free market' cult was created via 'manufacturing consent' propaganda by rich sh*tters, and now the childish belief-system have nurtured and grown the psychopaths and wealth to generate 'the Palantirs of the world'. The Fascist surveillance state was always the endgame of Capitalism..

Do you not think that a hypothetical state without Capitalism could also generate an automated surveillance state? It feels to me to be less tied to the market system and more to authoritarianism. I would simply point to the fact that many European nations under socialism did have very strong secret police spying on the public under the pretext of protection from counter-revolution, which is not really any different to the countries under capitalism today, minus the technology.

Just more subterfuge dressed up as genuine concern - always to drive the investor hype machine for fear there is no more money for investment.

[–] Armand1@lemmy.world 14 points 2 weeks ago

Open AI has done this too. It's literally just a marketing play. "We made something so scary and amazing. Pay attention to us".

In reality it's probably a nothing burger.

If you actually put forward a law to ban all AI development now they'd lobby against it.

There's no pause button. Even if "we" aren't advancing the frontier "they" won't be stopping.

There is value in quality, in advancing the frontier of logically consistent, accurate, fact based, true results as much of the time as possible for queries/problems as large/complex as possible. Focus on that.
