Glad to see some official Linux support. RuneLite has always been available on Linux, but using a Jagex Account required the Jagex Launcher, and Jagex Accounts will soon be mandatory.

Interesting that this is a completely different program to the Windows version. I wonder if this is also going to replace that one at some point and we just got it early?

Sad days. Haven't played in forever but the jar client was hella universal and let you play on anything. And Javas on arm, your pi, etc. Was such a low effort game 90% of the time and was made to be "playable" at like 10 fps on a web browser 30 years ago. So it was always a fun benchmark, similar putting doom on a calculator.

Going to be a lot harder for private servers and communities that where making HD clients. Makes me want to find a vanilla private server I can preserve or play around with locally.

lmk if you ever find something cool.

it seems rs3 has a dwindling playerbase compared to osrs.

Last I checked all the projects are missing over like 60% of content or quests and other basic things that don't exist.

And not all of them are very open sharing their progress because they are making money illegally off it.

The coolest server I don't remember the name of just essentially made their own small map, but everything was accounted for, and they had prestiges, and relics for people who max out and stuff.

they have had a .deb for their client since years ago, no?

The Launcher is required to use Jagex accounts (unless you want to use the third party Bolt launcher, which works fine) instead of old, insecure RuneScape accounts. The latter is also being fully discontinued for actually logging in to the game, so this is them properly supporting Linux again before that is enforced.

My account was the most secure, it wasn't registered to any email, it had a username login.

It was like I has two passwords, and no way for them to trick jagex into recovering my account.
