Aren’t donations by AIPAC really foreign interference?

Yes, but they filter/wash the money through “local donations” so it’s not Israel giving the money, it’s “Jewish Americans”
They’re also by wealthy American zionists which gives them some cover.
It still doesn’t make sense why any politician can accept money from a lobby group whose only goal is to send Americans’ money to a foreign country that continually spies on America.
It is fundamentally a terrible idea that politicians are allowed to accept money from any lobbying group.
There is a term for this: corruption—and corruption is never in the public interest.
Don't forget the active genocide, pillaging and rape of a sovereign nation.
Yep and paid using our tax dollars. We give billions to Israel and they have free Healthcare and education things we don't have here. It's fucked up.
Now you’re getting it.
No, it's domestic. The US gives Israel money, not the other way around.
Israel then uses some of that money for AIPAC bribes. AIPAC doesnt report who donates to it.
Yep, so it's domestic (with extra steps)
You're conflating two things, and maybe it's a joke and I missed the punchline. Aipac is a national jewish interest lobby group. The US also sends billions of tax payer dollars to Israel.
So there’s actually people who aren’t Israeli citizens giving money to AIPAC?
Israel doesn't have a sustainable economy. They only stay afloat from US giving them money
They also stay afloat via dual citizenship — it’s often Israeli citizens who live in other countries who give them money.
Enough of the Dem voters wont let filthy genociders or their supporters win elections. And its not up for negotiation. So all Dem candidate better wise TF up to that and stop taking AIPAC bribes, like this half of the party did.
Yeah uh, sorry to burst your bubble but "Dems" have been taking genocide bucks since before it was cool. Many still take Nazi money now.
Fuck AIPAC
Well, the proof is in the pudding on that one. Some dems will become afraid of losing that kickback/bribe money for sure.
Israel is a cancer not a country.
It's growing metastases
As all of human history shows, countries can in fact be cancer.
At some point, the concept of the nationstate itself will have to be redefined. It's doing us few favors. It has to evolve.
Ah, shit. I can't see AIPAC anymore without thinking it's a Political Action Committee for Artificial Intelligence companies.
Is.... it not ?
Edit: okay I read the article, it's the American Israel Public Affairs Committee
Maybe don’t accept blood money in the first place
I often wondered about running for office just to take all the PAC money possible and then ignore them if elected. You know, like do a reverse Sinema or Fetterman.
You'd have to get elected on a platform of fellating donors and then turn around and be a decent person. The corrupting influence would be incredible. That seems like a difficult row to hoe.
Not that difficult know I'm fucking then over

The next part of his speech that no one talks about is just as important: "...we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite".
My fear is so many of these Dems are being performative. That they knew they couldn't block Israel's aid, so they went along only because they knew it'd fail.
That's not counting those who are approaching it like "I'm voting against Israel until the media cycle gets off the Epstein-Iran War"
This is all posturing, in my opinion.
bOtH pArTiEs finance Israel, we built that country for a reason and it's doing exactly what it was created to do.
Churches aren't as powerful as they once were, but they're as rich as ever, and they also funnel billions more into Israel. It's the nexus of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, so... of course.
... and they don't pay taxes for some reason, fancy that. So all Americans directly and indirectly support Israel financially at every level.
Democratic leadership knows this just as well as Republican, and it's not as if you have an alternative. Every vote is pro-Israel, whether you like it or not. It's a lot more pervasive than many realize.
I'm not advocating not voting, I still vote. But it's all pro-Israel. Seventy years of this, it's undeniable.
There it is, folks. There is just no appeasing Lemmy at this point. Might as well fire up the gas chambers again and march the jews back. Then maybe --big maybe-- we might start building some kind of political majority to defeat repubs and not just a slim majority in the house or senate. But i'm not holding my breath lol
Lemmy is more concerned with signaling to the world how virtuous they are rather than actually stopping a genocide. It's incredible that this is where the left has ended up
AIPAC wants what's BEST for America which is why they PUNISH Politicians who want to Give TAXPAYER DOLLARS to Americans INSTEAD of Israelis!
Would it be less surprising if the American Israel Public Affairs Committee didn't stop paying bribes to politicians who voted to punish Israel?
