My name is Commander Shepard and this is my favorite Mass Effect community on the citadel.

Rules & Regs:

  1. Don't be a dick, unless it's a really spicy renegade interrupt. But even then, seriously, don't be a dick.
  2. Memes are great - seriously, I need more Mass Effect sh!tposting in my life.
  3. This is a welcoming community for all stripes, let's just remember there's people on the other side of the screen and act accordingly.
  4. If you're here, you gotta post. Thems the breaks, kid.

The Mako holds a special place in all our hearts.

It’s just that for some of us, that place is filled with anger and hatred.

I have just finished playing ME1 and I enjoyed driving the Mako way more than I remember. It’s probably because the changes they made in LE.

It is true the changes made were nice. Made it almost bearable. And I do have found rose coloured memories of the Mako. But even in my last run I was frustrated with the driving and terrain in ME1 by end of game.

Truthfully the driving aspect of the ME series was never my favourite thing to do.

I was frustrated with the driving and terrain in ME1 by end of game.

I think the terrain is to blame. Blasting over slightly bumpy terrain is fun, trying to drive up a extremely steep hill and then tumbling down is not. Makes me wonder what could be build with better procedural generation.

Truthfully the driving aspect of the ME series was never my favourite thing to do.

It's not my favourite thing to do, but I enjoyed the quiet moments of ME1.

DeLorean > batmobile > most bond cars > most other sci-fi vehicles > Mako

Love mass effect tho. Just never enjoyed the mako bits.

These are fighting words! (Personally, I would not classify Bartmobile nor Bond cars as sci-fi.)

Fair, although I'd argue that it's still sci-fi even tho it's more grounded than star wars and such. Without all the technology batman wouldn't be at all possible. As for bond... There's nanobots, an invisible car and lasers that can cut people in half. No spaceships or aliens, but c'mon..

Mass Effect in general has some really cool vehicles. Even Andromeda ones, I absolutely love how Tempest looks.

I love the design of the Tempest, but I couldn’t care less about the Nomad.

Really? I didn't enjoy driving it around but I like how it looks.

To my eyes, the Nomad just looks too slick and impractical. It looks a bit too much like a race car.

Edit: Here's some concept art of what the Nomad could have been.

[–] arya48@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Fair, those are some nice looking concepts.

I love the Mako because it’s the most memeable of sci-fi vehicles.
