This is why good carbon tax policies need to exist. The one we had was a stupid shitty system, what’s the point of collecting a carbon tax if you’re just going to pass it out again? DO something with it. Subsidize building retrofits, develop rail and public transit, build renewable energy infrastructure, fund research into alternative energy sources and battery tech for EVs.
Charging times and availability of charging stations is a huge roadblock for EV adoption, if you can’t charge at home then it’s not feasible, for renters especially. If I could roll up to a charging station and get my battery up to 80% in ten minutes, then getting an EV would be a no-brainer. But as it is, charging your car if you can’t at home is like a second job.
