WASHINGTON — U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer indicated Wednesday that should Democrats regain control of the chamber following the elections, they plan to block judicial nominees sent up by President Donald Trump, including for any possible vacancies on the Supreme Court.

“Look, the bottom line is, one of the reasons that we want to do everything we can to take back the Senate is not let Trump put such horrible justices, MAGA justices, on the Supreme Court and the lower courts,” he said.

Republicans blocked Obama’s appointees because it was “too close to elections, (a year away), and we should let the voters decide.” The idiot Dems went along with it, because they thought that Hillary would steamroll the next election. Trump won. Then a few years later when RBG died (only a few months before Biden was elected) they shamelessly rammed Trump’s appointee through.

If voters flip congress, I’d argue it is Schumer’s moral imperative to block anything and everything Trump tries to do, because the voters will have spoken. That’s the same reasoning for not appointing anyone during Obama’s second term, after all.

I know the Dems, the idea that they'll actually stand up to Trump is laughable. They haven't done so in the past ten years, and they're not starting now.

If they have magically grown a spine, that's awesome, but I doubt it.

Democrats growing a backbone? I'll believe it when I see it.

Right?! They'll fold over some weak as gimme like getting a Republican vote for a do nothing bill. And then claim they let that SC nominee slide because "it's time to bury the hatchet and return to normalcy"

Schumer sees AOC coming up in the rear view mirror, that's all.

Buuut Democrats haven't held the Senate with a Republican in the White House since Scalia's death, and it wasn't until Gorsuch that they only needed 50%+1 to confirm a SCOTUS justice.

But also even if Democrats do take the Senate, rest assured it will be 51 seats, Fetterman supports whoever the fuck Trump nominates, and Vance will break the tie. Unless it's Ted Cruz who gets nominated, in which case it will be unanimous so they can get rid of him.

This should be table stakes for any party actively trying to oppose fascism.

But since we're hearing about it now and it's Schumer, let me predict:

  • By January when democrats maybe have a senate majority, it'll be, "We'll need to look at every nominee case-by-case."
  • By the time Alito steps down in 2027ish, it'll be, "We would need to see someone who isn't an idealogue."
  • A month later when Trump nominates someone off of the Heritage Foundation's list, it'll be "There's no way they'll be confirmed, so we should have a vote."
  • Then a few hours before the vote, Fetterman will announce he is switching to GOP along with one or two democratic senators with strangely full bank accounts.

Stay in session all year to prevent recess appointments too

Listen to Schmuck acting all tough. Where was he when Mitch McConnell was stealing seats?

This fucking loser is the biggest coward in our government. All he cares about is Israel, Insider Trading, and destroying the careers of good Democrats (like Al Franken. He should be investigated as deeply as any MAGA, and well find that he was probably getting paid by MAGA to back off. Jeffries, too. Collaboration with MAGA is the only excuse for their fecklessness.
