Half of the US already blindly thinks and feels whatever Fox News or social media algorithms tell them to. This is barely even a lateral move.

We kinda already lost the game when social media became a thing.

Kinda too late, reality tv and streaming fame (so the for profit algorithms) did most of the work by convincing everybody they should aspire to look plastic, act like an asshole, get famous, and produce nothing of real substance.

In fairness every kind of mass media has been doing that for a century plus. The difference with social media is that it is much more effective.

And tracking down dissenters has become entirely possible down to the individuals thanks to how social media and technology has been implemented.

The scary part isn’t AI becoming intelligent. It’s corporations discovering they can sell us a monthly subscription to our own judgment. First it writes your emails, then it plans your life, and eventually the only human skill left is clicking »I agree« on the terms of our surrender.

After seeing a comedian doing crowd work and talking to a guy that used AI to figure what was an optimal setting for his seat on his car so he could be comfortable I'm afraid we're already there.

If LLMs keeps progressing in the same speed as it did for a couple more years, I can totally see that happening.

Bullshit. Experts want money. Their tech will never be good enough to replace us. They are selling snake oil.
