Hi guys How can I backup bookmarks in mull (preferably to a file) so I can restore them in another Firefox based browser?

The easiest way to do this, to my knowledge, is to get your bookmarks onto Firefox for Desktop.

Basically,

  1. Create a Firefox account on your desktop. Use an email generated with a masking service, or maybe even a throwaway one.
  2. Login with both your desktop, and when that's done, your mobile device
  3. Sync the bookmarks
  4. Destroy the Firefox account, if you want. If you used a true throwaway email, don't skip this.

thanks pretty easy indeed but not the most private

It might be a little faster to share/copy the bookmarks if you only have a few in a few folders, but otherwise yeah

I thought you wrote “null” for a second. Extremely fast backup target.

dd if=/dev/null of=/dev/null

Just wait until you find out about

dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/null

You can actually max out a CPU core doing this. If you run it once for each core concurrently you can get a poor mans stress test.

Unless you want to add in your firefox login info to mull best option would be adding each bookmark to a spreadsheet and ~ manually adding each bookmark to your new browser ~

Edit: got a case of 2am brain over here and forgot an easier way. After saving the spreadsheet make sure its formatted correctly as hyperlinks that way you can export the spreadsheet as an HTML file. Depending on what desktop browser you can then import the HTML file in your bookmark manager

You sure there is no way to at least copy them at once

Yeah you can select multiple bookmarks on mull and "copy to clipboard" then paste them into whatever spreadsheet editor you want if that's what you meant? You can then format the links correctly on something like Calc or excel. I never personally tried extensions but that might be another route you can take. Sorry for all of the downvotes the privacy community isn't always this hostile to a simple question. Hope you have a good one

Thanks this sounds like the best solution

You can select multiple bookmarks, tap Share and then Copy.

Yeah, Firefox and forks on Android really forgot about bookmarks management

hamburger menu -> bookmarks -> manage bookmarks (popup window) -> import and backup

edit: was for mullvad, did not know mull is a other browser.

Wait, can you actually do this in Mull (the Android browser)? I'm familiar with this method on desktops, but there are precious few browsers on Android that allow you to export bookmarks. To the best of my knowledge, Firefox, Fennec, Mull etc do not allow this.

In fact, the list of browsers that does allow it seems limited to Chromite and DuckDuckGo, both Chromium forks.

Yeahh its not a feature on Mull. Think OP got confused with Mullvad browser or something

Wait there is browser called mull? Assumed only mullvad exist.

No worries honest mistake their names are really similar, haha. Check it out its on android its like a hardened Firefox

[–] far_university1990@feddit.de 1 points 8 months ago

That make it worse, mullvad also hardened firefox (actually based on tor browser, which also hardened firefox)
