We have already made it through the warmest winter on record, thanks to a strong El Niño that has had many people scratching their heads and wondering where the cold temperatures went. Now, El Niño is finally weakening, but that doesn’t mean we’re all in for a second winter any time soon.

Folks in Ontario have already been warned to be on the lookout for bears that have woken up from their hibernation early. People across the country may have also noticed migrating birds returning early for the season or an increase in rodents running around.

I have just come in the house from watching flocks of Canada geese migrating north for summer ... and it's March 14 ffs!! Even a raven on a light pole squawked at the geese and seemed upset by the whole thing.

Bears, bees, mosquitoes, squirrels are waking up already.

Gonna be a hot year again. :(

Not sure where you live, but in Ontario, Canada, our geese and squirrels are awake all year round! More concerning, though, is that they are having babies too early in the year. We had reports of goslings when there was still ice on bodies of water. Never good!

I did notice regular houseflies outside over a week ago, which seems... really early.

Lake Diefenbaker, SK. Here, too. And people are excited! :(
