I have an old Fire tablet that I've put LineageOS on. It's long in the tooth, but even with its crappy Amazon kernel it runs fairly nicely if I don't stress it. I'd like to have it as a no-distractions writing device with one of my mech keyboards paired to it.

I'm looking for a lightweight markdown note taking app or word processor that does not need a ton of features, but I would like support for simple keyboard shortcuts like ctrl-I, B, U, X, V and I'd prefer WYSIWIG display for any light formatting that markdown would support.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Seems like Markor is the first recommendation to check out. Thanks!

Markor, Logseq, Notesnook or Joplin are the ones I know off. No idea how light and performant they are though. I think full word processors like collabora are a lot heavier than a simple text editor.

+1 for Logseq. It's probably not the best app for lightweight markdown notetaking, but it's an incredibly useful app that has now become central to my personal knowledge management. Highly recommended, although the Adroid app is still in beta.

+1 and add to is syncthing to sync the markdown folder to a PC and use Logseq there.

Thanks so much. Sounds like it's the consensus.

I am partial to Markor

I use it everyday in combination with Syncthing to stay organised.

I've been using Open Markdown Notes

I haven't noticed a synching capability...perhaps should do better knowledge of what I use ...

Regardless, every few days it will drop some, sometimes all of the entry. I've been using it as a journal/logbook, loss is disheartening.

Just installed, Looking forward to Markor

Inspired by your mention of synch.
