Unfortunately, it’s hardly surprising after CA had a few back to back underperformance on their yearly release schedule.
There was a lot of leaks coming out after the last round of layoffs about poor management, unpopular decisions from brand managers, and pumping out content at the cost of everything else. As I recall one of the former employees said something along the lines of “it’s just so frustrating because the fans kept telling us exactly what they wanted, and we did everything but.”
It’s sad that there’s no real competition in this specific micro genre of turn based grand strategy plus real time tactical battle simulator. But even without competition they managed to implode.
