This is probably an unpopular opinion, but as AI gets better and better at coding, there will be a point that it will be able to write drivers for anything you desire.

That's a long ways away and even then id remain doubtful. AI being able to write those drivers is dependent on the complete hardware engineering documentation being available to it (to search for relevant addresses, interrupts, etc) and those are definitely not readily available for old hardware.

You may be right, but if AI agents are going to approach and then surpass the smartest individuals by the end of the decade, why not. We will see, but I suspect this is our future. Writing software or any computing experience may be as complex as as simple text prompt like we do today when we create images but for anything. Crazy to think about…crazy what we already have.
