I’ve tried lots of watches as the right daily driver for me. Something comfortable (for me that’s 42mm diameter or less, 12.5mm thick or less), durable, versatile, inexpensive enough to not stress over, and as much as I hate to admit it, juuust expensive enough and brand enough to feel like I’m wearing a watch guy’s watch. More than a Casio, less than a Rolex.

Enter the SuperOcean 42. I’m surprised this watch doesn’t get more love from the community. It’s definitely reminiscent of the submariner, but for a fraction of the cost.

I bought this watch for low to mid $3K range and then added a rubber strap from Zealande. Given the price, movement, versatility, and robustness, this is the perfect “dumb reach“… there is almost no outfit or situation where this watch is too much or too little watch.

Agree - but I just picked up a new model SuperOcean in black/white and put it on a rubber strap. It’s clean and high contrast. 42mm dial with short lug length and 12.5mm thick. Really clean, wearable watch.
