When you absolutely need something to work presicely once between the day you buy it and the day you’re late for jury duty.

I wonder what it is that drives that hate.

Social pressure; an Orwellian Two Minutes of Hate.

Worked at a business which offered reduced pricing for kids. Front desk was trained in the habit of asking, not how old the kids were (because parents had trained them to give the age under the pricing shelf), but “what grade are you in this year”?

Not having prepared for that particular question, the kids would always answer honestly, and we could derive their age and charge accordingly.

I had a friend in high school who had an amazing sound system. He was deaf.

I asked him and he explained that he could feel many of the sounds. So while he couldn’t hear the finest details, there was a lot he could make out.

Join Toastmasters and they will (quite kindly) help you rid yourself of this in a few weeks.

I’ve been there a few times over the past decade. It’s a major metro city with substantial tourism. The people there are just like people anywhere else in the world in that if you treat them with respect, they will reflect that; and if you treat them like smug shit, they will also treat you like smug shit.

The semi-popular reputation Paris has is unearned and based in prejudice.

From the Wiki:

The wreck of RMS Titanic lies at a depth of about 12,500 feet (3,800 metres; 2,100 fathoms)
