I've seen this same email and UI from WestJet when I booked a flight over Christmas. Was incredibly insulted by it as well, especially by the Subject line making it sound like they're just upgrading you if you open the email.

Actually yeah. Books go out of date, and rather quickly. I have an Alberta Hiking book from the 1970's, from just before Kananaskis Country was established. The trails in that area are pretty hard to look up because the names are all different.

I've only ever heard "They're coming to take me away" on record. Great pick!

The banks do take a hefty cut of that transaction fee, and visa/mastercard get a smaller cut. But that's still a lot of money going to the US for no reason.

We do have Interac here in Canada which charges a few cents instead of a percent, and it's Canadian.

Don't forget to stop using your credit cards! They're all American an take a percent of all transactions.

Do you think Obama will run against Trump in 2028? /s

The longest non-medical word (because c'mon, that's Latin) is antidisestablishmentarianism. I think it is basically being pro-establishment (government) because of the double negative in the word.

Plus there's supply and demand to think about. Prices will go up becuase it'll be harder to find the domestically made vehicles.

I work in bioinformatics. The faster the hard drive the better! Some of my recent jobs were running some poorly optimized code and would turn 1tb of data into 10tb of output. So painful to run with 36 replicates.

My wife met me because she went to the University of Winnipeg as an exchange student. So yeah, you never know where life will lead you, but she said it felt like home right away in Winnipeg.

And yeah, sorry that you feel sad about what could have been.
