Alberta already has expensive power and rolling outages
Tuya makes zigbee devices that are cheap. It is the only tuya stuff I tend to use.
I highly dislike wifi dependant devices unless they are larger more complex devices that get stable updates.
There seem to be some 3rd party music capable devices in the works but nothing ready made in production.
I am waiting for a better overall speaker and I need a new server that can at least run a small lllm to run the assistant as intents are too ridged
I have some gen 1 devices but at this point the hardware probably is worth replacing I think the mics are going bad on a few I have.
There are 3rd parties that appear to be working on the LACK of music quality speaker with alternatives to the voice only PE.
As I said the PE has a bad speaker.. My existing devices are in 5 different rooms and mostly used for casual music listening. I have no intent on purchasing PEs + external speakers for every room. Particularly to clutter night stands.
I am waiting for something more like this.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5yNEhcAjWU

I have refused to purchase one, hoping a better speaker comes out as I have several rooms to replace google devices in.
I have seen cheap external computer speakers suggested several times, you can often find them dirt cheap at second hand and surplus stores.
US automakers broke their deals on running factories here. We have no native auto brands (other than attempted startups) building factories.
No need to protect US brand pricing anymore, let’s make cars affordable to Canadians
Based on the exact wording I think this is a hard swap on religious people’s take on evolution and atheism to make that exact point.
Consolidations of forums onto subreddit style systems including Lemmy. They almost completely replaced individual forums with subtopics.
While Lemmy is still open the consolidations really cut down on the independence of a lot of the older forums or even whole sites.
I have only ever seen negatives posted about these types of programs.
Keep in mind that the events are normally when you also want it.
Think of them turning your AC off during a heat wave type of event.
As someone who self hosts most things I would never hand over control to the utility for my HVAC.
