Those are the two I switch between too. I slightly prefer homepage, but you can't go wrong with either one.
It's VNC, but it's included in the docker image I use, so nothing extra other than adding authentication in front of it.
How is performance now? I moved away from it a year or so ago because the performance was pretty bad on my system, even with an external database.
I host a copy of Obsidian on my server, and I can access it through a reverse proxy. There isn't any authentication though, so you have to use something like Authelia.
Another vote for FairMail. I've been using it for a few years at this point and never had a reason to look for an alternative.
I'll probably give K-9 a try when it eventually rebrands as Thunderbird though.
Thanks for this link! I'm on Vultr, which is good, but it's around $7 a month with only 25GB of storage. Think I'll pick up one of the Ethernet Servers deals.
I host it on a VPS since I was hesitant about having something like this hosted at home. As far as spinning it up, it was relatively straightforward using the docker instructions (https://join-lemmy.org/docs/administration/install_docker.html).
I ran into some issues with the postfix container not being able to send emails, but it turned out I just needed to ask my VPS provider to unblock port 25 for SMTP.
Nice! Just me on my instance too. The only downside I've found so far is that I have to discover new communities in my own since there is no one else to populate "All".
Small price to pay to have control over my instance though.
Hey, thanks for doing that! I, unfortunately, didn't think about people that would need to use screen readers or the like. Next time I'll wait until I'm at a computer to type it out.
Pretty much anything I can. It's too much to type out, but my Homepage lists most of it minus any databases or reverse proxies. I also host a one person Lemmy instance. Everything but Lemmy is run on a 2013 gaming PC with Unraid.
EDIT: After posting this, I'll probably end up selfhosting an imgur alternative too...
This looks great for my one person instance! Any way to unsub and block any unwanted communities?
