That’s not a post by an anonymous user on a fringe messageboard. That was a post on X by Rep. Clay Higgins, a GOP congressman from Louisiana, who was responding to the Supreme Court’s ruling that the Biden Administration—and not Texas—has jurisdiction over border enforcement.

It mentions “a source told the Seattle Times”, but…they didn’t. The Seattle Times was reporting on a purported whistleblower posting to a public forum (what you linked).

I think there are two sources.

The fuselage panel that blew off an Alaska Airlines jet earlier this month was removed for repair then reinstalled improperly by Boeing mechanics on the Renton final assembly line, a person familiar with the details of the work told The Seattle Times.

Last week, a different person — an anonymous whistleblower who appears to have access to Boeing’s manufacturing records of the work done assembling the specific Alaska Airlines jet that suffered the blowout — on an aviation website separately provided many additional details about how the door plug came to be removed and then mis-installed.

What distinction do you make between regulating and having regulations?

Related to this is that prosecutors have total discretion in the realm of plea deals. If you do a crime here, it becomes a negotiation with the prosecutor.

I agree with you. The justice system should not be "let's make a deal."

The US has this bizarre setup where we “regulate” companies through the courts rather than directly through government agencies (this is not always the case, but it often is).

I'm afraid that I don't understand what sort of alternative system you have in mind.

That’s not the same as the government regulating capitalism.

This is like saying that Texas doesn't regulate abortion because it's just private citizens filing lawsuits. That is bullshit.

Without the regulations, there would be no legal basis for filing a lawsuit.
