By believing weird claims online. Friend of mine that immigrated to Canada and got citizenship recently, voted for conservatives because he is now anti-immigrant and believes Trudeau gov/NDP are giving too much support to immigrants. The youtube algorithm has turned him into believing conspiracy stuff
Cycling to work, the biggest savings for me were being able to drop my car insurance to "pleasure use less than x Km per week" status. The insurance dropped from $800 a year to $150 a year. Then fuel savings also. However there were additional costs like studded snow tires for winter and increased food consumption.

The minor difference is private can choose what they want to do. public has a fuduciary duty to increase value
In Canada the mail delivery has shifted to communal mailboxes in new communities as a cost savings measure. Problem is asshole theives who smash them open and steal everyones mail at once.
We have free wifi at our library, as well as a lot of other things like meeting spaces you can book.
More communal transport seems to be needed. After work from home, and occasional bus to work, the time I had to drive to the office to swap equipment and sit in rushhour traffic for an hour was painful. Like there is no way every single person needs unique travel to work
Artisan Bread in 5 minutes recipe. No machine no kneading. Best bread I have ever eaten. This one they updated to 1 tablespoon bread yeast, but old recipe was 1.5. i think 1.5 Tbsp of yeast tastes better. And use bread flour, rather than allpupose. https://artisanbreadinfive.com/2013/10/22/the-new-artisan-bread-in-five-minutes-a-day-is-launched-back-to-basics-updated/
We have family on otherside of country, sending cash via mail is risky, so we sometimes default to a gift card for something in their local area.
Typically only promotional/giveaway gift cards expire here in Canada.
