Yep, it is a cryptographic tool that has lead to a comodities market that, while large enough to sustain itself for now, is mathamaticly a ponzi scheme. Someone will be left holding the bag, if you have friends invested heavily in crypto, make sure they have an off-ramp.

Fair, but they have 2ish sessions left before the term is over and its in the middle of the holiday season... I appeciate the correction, but any feet dragging means these dont happen in time either.

  1. Fair, that one would work.
  2. The aid would have to get out the door quick, if its left on a runway the day of, it aint flying.
  3. Obstrictionist Legislator, nope. And with the full GOP governemt they are already planning of flipping the switch on absentee appointments, which haven't been allowed since Obama.
  4. Fair, but even retaining damning classified info wont sway any minds, so why bother.

Point being, the things that can be done are minimal, other than being petty and spiteful (and leaving trump an upper-decker in the ovel office restroom, that one just something I would do).

Its about the most spiteful thing that can do at this point. All actually impactful changes will be undone immediatly. The one thing they can do is make all 45s fanatics re-buy their merch.

My last expirence with XMPP is very dated, my old groups in EvE online used it and it was perfect for its role as a sort of internet pager to summon the horde of nerds. Im aware there are many new related projects, discounting it seems a bit premature now, if you have any recomendations I would love to read their docs.

My concern is that I would have to pitch what ever project we landed on to a semi-technical group of gamers with a handful of admins to run things. (Trying to avoid a platform that gen-z would complain about, and they already roll their eyes at me when I mention spaceships and spreadsheets).

Question: What do people in this community recommend for self-hosted instant messanger projects? I host a VOIP service for my nerd herd and due to recent events i'm attempting to migrate out groups chats off of the major platforms (Discord, Google chats, Slack, Etc.) as well.

There are a few notes that were requested/requirements.

  • Self-hosted
  • Supports images
  • Has a decent mobile app
  • Encrypted communication
  • Expected load ~25 users.

I am doing my own digging but wanted to hear the communites opinions on some of the projects that came up in searches.

  • IRC/XMPP - dosent really work for the request but is a classic, so I feel had to mention it.
  • Rocket.Chat - seems like the best option so far, but I was having trouble finding current reviews, and its licensing is a bit much.
  • Matrix also is close to checking all the boxes, but it wasnt clear how it works on mobile (Element seemed like the mobile app that was recommended).
  • Revolt was high on the SEO results but most of the discussion around it was about drama with the maintainers (that is what prompted this post, i'm fishing for more current opinions).
  • Zulip seemed similar to Rocket.Chat, but more expensive if we had to get a license.

I appreciate peoples opinions and recomendations on this topic.

Idiocracy is the most unrealistic movie ever made. President Comacho has a problem, finds the most qualified person to solve it, listens to them (reluctantly) and then dosent take credit. That would never happen in any political reality.

Im addition to the other tools to dig your car out, fill a large sealable bag or jug with a mix of sand and road-salt and leave it in your trunk/boot. If you end up haveing trouble getting traction when you start the car on a hill or have to get up a small lip around your tires, throw the mix under the drive train tires to help get you out of the hole.

That requires a bar to hold the democrats too, and right now that bar is dolled up in orange spray paint and lieing on the floor somewhere. The issue for the modern america is to resolve the spoiler effect. Without a third party there is no "voting in favor" of someone there is "voting against" someone else.

Im not worried about that, they wont let him, as a former president and current candidate, he has a secret service detail until he gives it up. Given the unique situation he is in, I dont think they would let him do that until everything is resolved.

From the media I saw about the film it felt like art was the point not profits. Ford Coppola sold a lot of personal assets to fund the movie, so it felt like something he just wanted to do.
