#EDIT: 7 blocks

Lively had an amazing game against the ROY frontrunner (at least as of last week). He looks like exactly the center the Mavs have been looking for since Tyson Chandler, and he's only 19.

How would you redraft the 2023 draft based on how rookies have performed so far as well as projected future potential?

Mine is:

  1. Spurs: Victor Wembanyama
  2. Hornets: Ausar Thompson
  3. Trail Blazers: Dereck Lively
  4. Rockets: Brandon Miller
  5. Pistons: Jordan Hawkins
  6. Magic: Scoot Henderson
  7. Pacers: Jaime Jaquez
  8. Wizards: Amen Thompson
  9. Jazz: Cason Wallace
  10. Mavericks: Bilal Coulibaly
  11. Magic: Keyonte George
  12. Thunder: Marcus Sasser
  13. Raptors: Anthony Black
  14. Pelicans: Craig Porter

The Mavs have the following under-25 players:

  • Luka Doncic (24)
  • Grant Williams (24)
  • Josh Green (22)
  • OMax Prosper (21)
  • Jaden Hardy (21)
  • Dereck Lively (19)

Luka is obviously Luka.

Grant Williams is an elite role player who has looked amazing in his new role as Dallas' starting 4, averaging 16/5/1 on flamethrower 54/55/73 shooting splits that (probably) will come down but maybe not that much considering how many players the Luka effect has boosted to 40%+ seasons. His defense is great too.

Josh Green has looked a little shaky this year but has definitely shown flashes of being a do-it-all role player that can fit in any lineup. Last year he shot over 40% from 3 and was a much improved passer and defender.

OMax is more of a project and hasn't played yet, so we'll see how he looks later.

Hardy is a microwave scorer who averaged 12 points in just 20 minutes per game last year after the Kyrie trade on 46/48/80 splits.

Lively is just 19 and has exceeded all Mavs fans' expectations. For the first time since Tyson Chandler we have a center who can rebound, protect the rim, and throw down lobs. Our centers since then have just done two, one, or none of the three. He will be a Maverick for a long time.

Some young cores (like Orlando and OKC) have deeper, more proven young talent, but the Mavs core makes up for it with a legitimate top 3 superstar. And all these role players slot nicely into roles alongside Luka. If I'm not mistaken we ran a Luka/Hardy/Josh/Grant/Lively lineup today (might've been DJJ instead of Josh) which looked good.

Grant Williams had a great first game for the Mavs with timely buckets in the 4th quarter to go with good defense. Mavs have a squad?
