Uh, yeah I know, I mentioned that in the comment you replied to.

Used doesn’t fix the spying problem, only helps with the price. And that’s not even a guarantee anymore. So you aren’t wrong, but it doesn’t help the issue I specifically have with them (which I have with all newer cars).

My current car is 2012 civic coupe, and if I don’t drive it much, it’s perfectly fine for what I use it for without upgrading, other than that it’s starting to need bigger work more frequently, and not stuff I know how to do. Decent mileage and all, but fully ice. I’d like to upgrade to electric or at least hybrid, but they all have the same spying problem. So I just cut driving as much as I can. I live in a rural town, closest grocery store is half an hour away by highway, so zero driving isn’t an option, unfortunately.

I wont buy an ev until they stop being mobile spying devices, especially considering the price tag. Same with any new/more efficient car. If that never happens, I just won’t ever have one. That’s the way it has to be because I am not a product, especially if I’m paying thousands of dollars. If it’s free, I’ll think about it.

I live somewhere that I can’t really survive without a car, but I’ve reduced my driving substantially (once a week now at most) I’d like to get an e-bike, but can’t really justify the spend at the moment.

Are you also upset when they do a donation drive and have a pre-article header literally asking for money?

Ngl, the more this happens the more servicers are confused about what they should be collecting and from whom, and that’s actually a win for the borrowers (not as much of a win as this shit going through but still).

For example, due to the slew of challenges, I’m still on $0 repayment through October and don’t even have to certify income for that. And who knows if they will actually move forward with resuming charges for it; this is the second time it’s been delayed for me.

I hope the system does get thrown into complete chaos if it doesn’t all get forgiven or at least restructured. That would be better than people having to pay for worthless and/or overpriced degrees, and not being able to do shit with their lives.

Lawyers say these policies violate Amendment A, which was approved by Colorado voters in 2018 and bans the state from “engaging in slavery or involuntary servitude” under any circumstances.

Valerie Collins, an attorney from Towards Justice, said the case isn’t about prohibiting all prison labor.

“All our clients are demanding is that the state stops forcing people to work,” she said, in a statement. “The state could remedy these constitutional violations today if it wanted to.”

Idk kinda sounds like they do.

And a little light ball, like a reflection off a watch face, that sometimes appears that just randomly moves around and, importantly, can be “caught” (as in has a physical presence, sometimes).

Keep in mind that all of these could be more or less stopped if there was any real desire to do so.

But there isn’t.

If you go with the invite approach, I would desperately like to join you despite not being on beehaw itself at the moment. I was actually planning to sign up for the ultra-curated experience, after finding that both “uncurated” and “lightly curated” are not awesome for me, but then I came across this info a few days back, and figured I should hold off; Idk what your policy is at the moment for taking new users if you plan to move.

Increasingly I’m disenchanted with Lemmy as a whole, it doesn’t feel welcoming or communal, and would like to go with you when you move to a different fedi platform, but because I’m not part of your server now, I have no idea when that’s going to happen or anything. And I don’t want to miss out :(

Nothing particularly special, but I like buying cheap all-metal $5 lamp bases and repainting them. Because holy shit are lamps expensive.

My favorite so far has a multi-spiral body with a leaf-shaped light diffuser under the bulb, which I painted with chameleon paints, so depending on the time of day/color of light it’s a variety of different colors (mostly purples, blues, and greens). It lives in my very bright living room for optimal effect.

I find this wholly unsurprising.

All ai projects should be forced to show the entirety of their training data. I don’t give a flying fuck if they want to call it proprietary, they don’t own most of the data in the first place. Even if they bought it, it doesn’t belong to them, just like we don’t own digital movies we buy.

And if even a single piece of that training data doesn’t have proper licensing for that specific use for that specific model, or they are ever found to have withheld any of the data, the model as a whole should be immediately scrapped, along with everything even tangentially derived from it, and the company should be fined fully double whatever amount of money that model generated or one years revenue for the company as a whole, whichever is more (no I don’t care if this leads to bankruptcy, should have thought about that before you stole data), and like use if for affordable housing programs or public schools or something, whatever.

They can try again with clean data, also subject to review. One time. Second time they do the same shady shit, permanently banned from the entire sector.

But regardless, we need to stop rewarding them for this behavior. And we need the consequences to actually hurt or we can expect it to get worse, not better.

This is exactly how I felt too. All filler that didn’t serve any sort of real purpose (character building I guess, maybe, but they were doing just fine with that prior to making a whole season of it).

So disappointing. I mean the episodes themselves were ok, but very meh compared to the prior two seasons.

I’m probably just out of the loop, but what the hell is up with slapping “Punk” after some random word and trying to pass it off as a thing?

I know cyberpunk, I know steampunk, I know solarpunk, and those I can accept as “more than an aesthetic”, tho steampunk is mostly an aesthetic… but then you have for example frostpunk (a game I know nothing about), cypherpunk, silkpunk, etc. (I don’t really know how to find other bastardizations for examples, but I know I’ve come across other random nouns followed by “punk” and I find it super weird and confusing)

Is it just capitalizing on the cyberpunk/steampunk fad for naming, or do these other “punk” things actually have a legitimate claim of being punk? Is all this ___punk watering down the meaning or am I old man yells at cloud meme here?
