Why? The purpose of this is to let you know if an app is spying on you.

It seems like this would be an excellent use of all that Stadia tech they built up. I'm pretty sure full YouTube integration was part of the bigger picture for Stadia. Such a shame to see the whole project just seemingly scrapped.

But with the selection of what are effectively just mobile games, I have to ask: why? Why not just... play the actual mobile game?

Yep, I'm with you on that. I'm actually pretty tech-literate, and even I don't have the time/energy to bother with all of that shit. That's a lot of work and maintenance just for a single task that I want to be as idle as possible. Watching videos should just be two clicks, not studying and building and troubleshooting and updating and configuring a dozen things.

this comment comes off as something a petulant child would say

Truest thing you've said so far, just not in the way you intended.

A book? You mean like the DSM 5?

He really doesn't want people to forget that he lives in Texas now.

I've been enjoying Firefish for my Mastodon content. I like the extra features and interface better than stock Mastodon.

Though, unless I just can't find it, there doesn't appear to be any way to follow a hashtag on Firefish, which is a bit of a bummer. The antenna feature is alright at filling in this gap, but it's not perfect.

Firefish works mostly okay with third-party apps, but none of them seem to be able to do some of the more advanced features like the live, auto-refreshing feeds, which is a feature I rather enjoy. So I've been pretty content with just using the PWA on my phone for the time being. The mobile interface is solid enough that I don't feel a strong need for a dedicated app just quite yet. Notifications can be delayed by a few minutes, but I can tolerate that.

Excellent, let's keep that momentum going.

Imagine a mine that could move around, target seek, refuel, rearm, and kill hundreds of people without human intervention.

Pretty sure the entire DOD got a collective boner reading this.

Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.

Lot of bad takes and sensationalism in this thread. The real difference is that one group (prisoners) were charged with crimes, and the others (hostages) weren't.

Whether those criminal charges are valid or not is another story, but that's why they're using different terms for each group, as they're not captive under the same pretense as the other.

That assumes that this person is capable of normal decision-making abilities in the first place. Judging by the fact that he got hit with 35 child solicitation charges to begin with, I'm not gonna hold my breath on him not becoming a repeat offender.
