I would absolutely hate being a kid growing up in today's world. I feel like I was part of the last generation that had a relatively normal childhood and only started to truly hear about the doomsday reality towards sort of my mid-to-late teens.

In many ways billionaires are worse than the other disasters listed.

I'll see if I can hold out for a sale. I'm interested in the Mask of the Betrayer expansion but not as much in the main game.

Love your work as always! I hope your health improves soon ♥️

Pure, unadulterated capitalism and greed finding new and horrifying ways of bleeding the people dry. Colour me unsurprised.

Nice! I gravitate to DEX builds too as it's just so nice to have bow access. My favourite stylish build is probably dual wielding the Tracers, but that's basically NG+ only.

Finishing up Pentiment probably later today, and it will be nice to have it over and done with. I will appreciate having played it, but I can't say actually playing it was all that fun. It's beautiful, it's well-researched and it has some interesting plots and characters in it but... god damn is it ever slow. Between the laboriously slow and often banal and uninteresting conversations and the lack of fast travel leading to half your playing time being watching your character slowly waddling across Tassing the game feels like an absolute slog to play.

I've been breaking up the tedium with Mandragora: Whispers of the Witch Tree. I've had my eye on it as it's written by Bloodlines-writer Brian Mitsoda, and at 25% off on the summer sale I thought why not.

It's a Metroidvania Soulslike with a skill tree inspired by Path of Exile, and I'm really liking what I'm seeing so far. The combat has been solid, the build diversity seems great and the bosses have been good. The game is beautiful with a lovely art style and the level design is really good too.

From what I've seen so far I recommend checking it out if you like these types of games!

What's your favourite build?

[–] Coelacanth@feddit.nu 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Sure did. I think it was some sort of cryptobro group focused on "growth and monetisation" if I remember right. Named "Chosen" I believe?

I'm not sure I trust Nexus with a picture of my ID, you know. What a fucking mess.

I know this is an unpopular opinion, but I would wait for a bigger sale. The game is fine, the combat is solid and to its credit it's absolutely beautiful. But at its heart it's just a very polished Ubisoft open world game. It's also way too long given how dour the writing is. The story is fine but you can't maintain interest for 60 hours when everything is delivered in a stoic monotone.

That's fair. As far as I know the same was true for Chris Roberts. Well, it wasn't so much that he had a publisher that would edit him as it was that he was fired and Microsoft came in and cobbled together what was there into an actual game (Freelancer).

  • Swipe gesture actions don't work in the inbox view. I often find myself instinctively swiping to Upvote and/or reply on comments in my inbox, but it doesn't work unless you click through to open the comment thread. Would be convenient to have them work right there in the inbox.

  • Automatically hide the default banner from the header of Subscribed, Local and All feeds. It's nice to have the Post View Header setting on for communities, but the home page feeds doesn't have banners so it's just clutter. Possibly also automatically hide the banner and/or icon for communities that doesn't have a custom one set?

  • Option to have left-to-right swipe act as "back" button on all screens, including menus. Would help using the phone one handed.

  • Option to have "Confirm exit or save draft" dialogue pop up when exiting a post/comment you've typed in but not sent. More convenient than manually saving drafts, doesn't automatically clutter your saved drafts like auto-saving does and still works as a safeguard against accidentally losing long unsent posts.

  • View "Remote Local" function - ie what the Local page looks like on an instance other than your home, but without changing accounts. Good for finding new active communities, especially on smaller instances.

~~Remote instance community browser. Basically just a list of all the communities on a given instance that you can click through. Another good way of finding new communities.~~ EDIT: I found this is already possible. Maybe make it more visible? I don't know.

It hasn't been the most active lately but with the recent influx of new users I thought it might be a good time to promote it. I'll try to make an effort to post more but no promises.

It would be great to at least have an option for swiping left-to-right to work as the "back" button, even in menus.

Currently it only seems to work if you've got a post open. If you for example swipe left-to-right when viewing a community, the left side drawer menu with your subscriptions opens instead.

I personally find the back button a little hard to reach with my right thumb, and having the swipe to go back be consistent helps using the phone one handed.

  • Option to show user display names, including custom formatting and emojis. Example:

  • Option to show community display name instead of just the adress, example:

  • Option to highlight comments made the past 15 minutes (in lieu of highlighting unread comments, as I understand that's not technically possible)

  • Option for a clearer distinction on who is the OP of a thread. I often don't notice the small icon, and it's useful information to have for context. Some other apps have a colored background behind the username of the OP, which I find helps a lot.

  • Different font colour on the "(X new comments)" on a post to better draw attention to posts with new comments

  • Option to have a different font colour on pinned posts to help them stand out, especially useful for communities with lots of pinned posts, or to find stuff like announcements and weekly discussion threads in your home feed easier

  • Support for Atkinson Hyperlegible font as an accessibility option

The pin icon is a little too subtle for me and since a lot of pinned posts are threads I tend to revisit (like weekly discussion threads) it's nice to have them stand out more in the feed. Sync does this and I always appreciated that feature.

Amazing interview in 3 parts with one of not only the prominent writers behind the game, but one of the co-creators of the setting through years of tabletop sessions and world building. Amazing insights into the game, the development and the lore - an absolute must watch for anyone obsessed with Disco Elysium.

Part 2

Part 3

This one has Argo Tuulik and Lenval Brown involved, which lends some serious credibility to the project in my eyes. Tuulik was one of the prominent writers of Disco Elysium, as well as one of the settings' co-creators as one of the players in Kurvitz's tabletop RPG sessions.

Someone had to be first to break the silence so why not with this? Nothing better than a guitar with a story, and few things more beautiful than a Jazzmaster full stop. Picture taken from a story here.

Good hunting, Stalker.

I will often have to spend an extra tap to show parent/context since I want to remind myself before replying. It would be a nice quality of life setting to be able to show them by default.
