All good, I think I phrased my comment in a confusing way :) It is true that the humanities have a higher percentage than other fields. I just wanted to add that many female linguists that I know are also dialed into the manosphere/incel/4chan speak even though they are the target of this dehumanising language, kind of in a morbidly curious way lol. Many of my acquaintances are also organising politically, which probably adds to this. As for the results, I sadly haven't met her in a while, I'm sorry. Ohh and I added the cis-male part to clarify that the information is just second hand.

As a cis-male linguistics student I can confidently say that this is not the case. An ostensibly female, blue-haired, feminist friend wrote her bachelor thesis about classifying reddit users in r/asmongold by language and the correlating amount of engagement in discourse in said community to see if she can form groups by classifying them by language and find out if she can form a relation between those groups and the topics (gaming, "politics", misogyny, racism, etc.) they talk about.

Germany: Der Tatortreiniger (or: The Crime Scene Cleaner) is about about someone who, well, cleans up after somebody died. While this job is most often portrayed from the side of organised crime the protagonist Schotty is just your average guy with a weird job. Most episodes start out with him having some preexisting notions and he encounters someone who challenges them. The first episode it's a sexworker, the third is a over the top gay man who, after they are forced to spend some time together, starts making much more sense to Schotty by challenging his stereotypical boomer mentality. In other instances, for example when he encounters the most comically on brand group of Nazis, he stands his ground. Really good show, especially when you consider how fucking woke it is for being produced in 2013!

The sugar reserves in your liver are like a last resort of your body when it can't burn any carbohydrates in the cells. As a type 1 diabetic I can tell you that you shouldn't fuck with that at all. Messing up your hormones (like insulin) is a really bad idea. Apart from that we obviously consume too much sugar. When your liver dumps all the sugar it saved up it also dumps a heap of the shit it is supposed to filter out. When you get hypoglycemic and your liver takes over, you gonna have a really bad time. When your body burns fat it produces Ketone, which is similar to acetone (or nail polish). In small concentration that's not a concern, but in higher concentration, like when you don't consume any carbohydrates, it fucks you up big time. Ketone is the reason why diabetics get blind, lose their legs and develop nerve damage.

I think the difference in Germany is that you are required by law to make space beforehand. When you are in a traffic jam on the Autobahn, there are rules for how to make a "Rettungsgasse" (rescue alley). A few years ago they bumped the penalty up to 320€ and suspend your drivers licence for a month. This penalty isn't only applied when you actually hinder an ambulance or the like, but when your actions could affect them in theory. I love that.

This is sadly a very common misconception, mostly due to the Nazi propaganda itself. The pre-war designs where mostly retrofitted civilian machines, the best example are the first planes they build. Sure, but my point was rather the disappearance of the language. Second language proficiency is high in Germany, but the attitudes regarding the "preservation" of German are insane. For example, there is a specific category for English words imported into German called Anglicisms. Funnily enough words like "cool" are not considered part of this group purely because they are used for such a long time that they are considered German enough (seems like language changes over time? Funny how this works!). Every teenager knows the moment when some boomer criticises them for using non German words.

Well, when Fr*nch will endure due to the almost religious fervour of their speakers, than German must too. Both countries origin story and who is considered part of the nation is founded on who speaks the language.

So there is a type of spray used on boats to get rid of spiders. As you can imagine, having an in closed space near the water is prime real estate for spiders.
