Bazzite has actually lasted the longest so far for me. Gonna leave the other desktop alone though, wife is the main user on it so im not forcing her on it.

Luckily i keep not running into the issues, Its mostly the unwanted windows features that seem to irritate me (f off onedrive and copilot) I keep trying to swap but I found what im good at finally and it is bricking linux installs.
I imagine it'd atleast wait until ODST, Reach, and 4 get one. Trying not to let my negative side win.
Im not sure it actually changed much except making it play nicer with modern windows.
Tough sell when the master chief collection exist and works.

Admittedly I'm not versed in 40k lore at all, so as for lore fitment I got no clue. I'm just going by vibes. Former prisoners in the grinder is the gist I'm getting about who I'm playing. (I'm guessing the arbites class are disposable inquisition people)
Hive scum seem very disposable, so I think it's a good fit. All depends on how the skill tree pans out though. 500+ hours in and enjoying it still.
I liked the halo ce anniversary approach. I think it was one button to swap between old and new.
