If they sold your IP, your copywriting, infringed your patents... they stole much more than your idea. They stole your execution.

It sucks to be in this situation, I am glad you are getting out on top of this, but I think it does not really contradict the saying.

It depends on the ROI and circumstances.

If perfectionism makes you spend a significant amount of time with no return, it is a curse. Example: polishing a slide deck for a routine presentation that will have no impact whatsoever on the outcome.

If perfectionism makes the difference between 0 value and tremendous value because your standard is so incredibly rare, it is a gift. Example: an artist crafting a work of art (e.g. Michelangelo's David). If Michelangelo's had not been an absolute perfectionist, his lefscy would have been long forgotten by now.

No offense, but all 4 ideas are dreadful. They rewarded the creativity and those who suggested blue-sky ideas. Even though they are dreadful, they are decent food for thought and can be built upon whereas the others are dreadful and bland. Chances are they probably rehashed these a million times before.
