Yeah you pretty much have to use https://lemmyverse.net/communities
There's a feature request here that would help https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2951
would be cool but I don't think the ActivityPub protocol allows that
it's kind of outside of Lemmy's control
personally I don't care that much about post history or karma or whatever
you can move your account though, there are buttons to export and import on your settings page
it won't bring your post/comment history with you, but it will carry over your subscriptions and saved/bookmarked posts/comments
there is an in-progress proof of concept here https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/pull/4695
if you have a Github account you can "subscribe" to that to get email updates about it
maybe some instances will want "New Comments" to be the default, like old forums
the inclination of people to never adjust default settings
yea lol so many people just will not change any settings on anything
for reference, this is what it looks like on Mastodon, the post to !announcements@lemmy.ml it gets the hashtag for announcements
https://mastodon.social/@dessalines@lemmy.ml/112576601493225058
it's not really part of the message text, it's separate
In order to improve interoperability with Mastodon and other microblogging platforms, Lemmy now automatically includes a hashtag with new posts. The hashtag is based on the community name, so posts to /c/lemmy will automatically have the hashtag #lemmy. This makes Lemmy posts much easier to discover.
this should be interesting

image proxying also sounds good
Set your language options in your profile settings, should hide some of them, I think they're still working on improving Lemmy's default language settings
use Scaled sort
also just using the Subscribed feed is better than All, I spend a lot more time on Subscribed than on All
just look for communities on https://lemmyverse.net/communities
and subscribe to !newcommunities@lemmy.world
In the user settings there's an option to export everything to a file, then you just import that file into your other account
SimAnt is a classic game
