Honestly it is. The remaster is beautiful. But the games are very much tank controls at heart. So even though it might feel counter intuitive to use the old tank controls; it definitely is the best way to play these games.

I've tried the modern controls, and it becomes apparent really fast that these games were not made for it. It's clunky and unwieldy at best, and completely illogical and unresponsive at worst.

The tank controls take some getting used to, but if you play Lara's home you can get used to them in peace.

I'm pretty sure he's green.

Thanks. I hate it

If it recognizes me it would know my ad preference is none. What is it with paid items/subscriptions and ads? I already paid. Fuck off. If I see paid stuff with ads I go out of my way to not use it.

I was curious about this, so I looked it up on Wikipedia, and I don't see this stopping you're talking about. If anything I'm seeing less bombings during Biden's term, not Trump's.

Either you're a troll or uninformed.

Thanks! I'll check them out!

Great! I'll put them on my watch list!

Yeah. I heard this one is pretty good. That and re-animator. Don't know the rest though.

Which of those are actually worth watching? I figure most are probably near unwatchable. I hope I'm wrong though.

Everything was under delivered since the early 90s by Peter. I think het just gets off from the attention. Considering most of the projects were a financial success nonetheless, he probably saw this as a reason to keep doing it.

This really bit him in the end though with godus. A failed god game where he went to kickstarter for money. I guess releasing an under promised game when you ask for money before making it, promising all sorts of things and never delivering it is not really good PR.

Interestingly, in the Netherlands there was the "Zuiderzee" . After damming off the sea, connecting the northern parts of the country for work traffic the sea became a lake called the "IJsselmeer" which in turn turned to freshwater, and even froze over during a cold winter, As seen here and traffic actually crossed over the ice in the lake itself.

The community I miss most from reddit. Nice! Thank you.

EDIT: It seems to have been fixed thanks to @graycube@lemmy.world. Running analyze verbose; in postgres.

After updating to 0.19.5 from 0.19.3 my postgres is often using up 500%+ of CPU according to docker stats and often going to 100% CPU on most cores according to htop. Also noticed in the uptime monitor:

htop shows one of the 5 postgres processes constantly on UPDATE. I think this might be part of the problem.

I'm not comfortable with postgres and am honestly completely in the dark how or where to mitigate or even pinpoint this issue.

Any help would be appreciated.

It was ahead of its time. You can do quests and talk to people. It has multiple endings. There's voice acting. It's overall a very immersive game for its time. It is also the last commercial standalone game on the Doom engine.

And for the modern computers, you can get the veteran edition on gog and steam.

It's fun, though dated. All vehicles handle differently. It's not the worst game out there if you can look past the graphics and "edgy" presentation.

This game is a thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish. What if you cross a racing game with a flight combat game and make it arcady as hell? Slipstream 5000.

This game is dumb, fun and has more blood than most DOS games.

I recently played The Dig for the first time, which passed me by when I was younger. I had heard of it I didn’t realise it was another Lucas/Spielberg game. I’d just come off a couple of other Lucasarts games and it was quite different.

Looking back it seems quite divisive, I think because it was so different to the comedy Lucasarts adventures, but there’s still a lot of love for it floating around the internet, and now I’ve added to it here if you fancy a long read: https://p7uen.neocities.org/posts/2023-06-23-The-Dig

If you've been meaning to play it, or always wanted to try it; this is the definitive edition to play it on a modern computer!

There's even a floppy disk version available.
