Spoken like a true asshole.

Eh, I save rude for the second "Leave." It's a human being on the other side of the door. Half the time it's some kid who just needed a job summer before college. I say hey, I don't want solar panels right now, have a nice day.

Now, when you tell me to wait, as you stand on my porch, then I'm going to tell you to get off my porch. I still say please though, because my kids might be listening, and I strive to use good manners in all my interactions, in the hopes they will too. You can be firm and polite.

Midnight Club was my absolute jam back in the mid oughts, loved the shit out of that game. Kinda got away from the Arcade style racers, but that game has a special place for me.

There was just some assumption that the knowledge was somehow inherent, like the RF from cellphones entered the womb and taught them how to troubleshoot their PC.

Oh yeah, I wouldn't cheat if I were playing with other humans, but sometimes I want to explore depths of a game that time just doesn't permit, so I gotta skip the grind and get right to the part where I'm unkillable. And yeah, if you're having fun, that is the point!

Play the games how you want to have fun, and anyone who says otherwise is dead wrong. I've dabbled in "cheating" myself, whether it's giving myself 60 pts for starting traits in Zomboid, or building really unbalanced maps in AoE II and preventing the computers from ever advancing, it's fun to sometimes modify the rules to benefit me unilaterally.

I may have missed it in this article, though I believe I read elsewhere, that she got busted down one rank and that's it. I know military in general is having retention and recruitment issues, but to me this is more than just a busting down offense. That the senior enlisted on a ship would so nonchalantly disregard OPSEC demonstrates either a clear lack of understanding, or worse, something more nefarious.

We saw a naval officer relieved of command for having the scope backwards on his rifle. This, to me, rises to a much higher level.

What about options? I don't want an apartment. I have a modest home on less than a quarter acre of property. My neighbor's house is 16ft from mine. Some people have bigger. Some people like apartments. Just options, you know? Or should everyone need to live in sense, urban areas? And I say this, the town I live in has about 5500 people/square mile, which is pretty dense. If I drive 10m south it's farms. There's a real variety.

The whole one solution fits all, my way or the highway (pun intended) ethos that is rampant on Lemmy is exactly why their goals won't be met. Refusal to compromise and blatant hostility will be met with much of the same, but hey, if I'm out here calling people with cars retards, I'm doing my part!

Ha, very much the same. The number of games I own is far greater than the number of games I've played. And like our universe, those two numbers will continue to grow apart in perpetuity.

Oh, final thing: I am pretty sure this was the first online PC FPS that modelled that M203 projectiles must travel a certain distance before the explosive charge will detonate

In SOI this was referred to as the fuck zone, because it was 14-34 meters (this is 15 years ago, memory's hazy). Crude joke, but effective mnemonoic device. Was related to the number of rotations for the round.

In my civilian life, handled a case before the Armed Services Board of Contract Appeals related to mortar rounds, and his contracted had been terminated because the paint thickness had an effect on the arming distance.

I played this at the same time I played Tribes (renegades always) and this game was a novelty, Tribes was the fun.
