40s, and analog; digital watches have their use, but shouldn't be standard on anyone's wrist but a kid learning to tell time. As far as smart watches go, I can't figure out why anyone wants to be THAT connected to their phone.

A 34mm Benrus is the smallest one I've had; I've read the specs of one or two with a smaller case size, I'm sure.

I hate that 5 badge on all Seiko 5s, but I do like that
Handyman, can confirm on the crystal and bracelt, and would advise going quartz. As an older guy, you may not even need to spend that much if you take a gander at Vaer. One of theirs--one of my current three-watch collection--I got because it was a very good quartz homage to a Hamilton hand-wound at half the price.
