Hello! I currently just set up my first truly self hosted lemmy instance. Everything went up smoothly, except for I cannot login to my account.

Whenever I try to login using any credentials, including the correct ones, I get an error "SyntaxError: Unexpected token 'O', "Origin is "... is not valid JSON"

How do I correct this issue? The URL is https://lemmy.lucitt.social/ for anybody interested.

Just use a cloudflare tunnel. It's free and can be used on pretty much any network that sends and receives data.

Refreshing sources will always be permanently engrained in my vision as if I was looking directly into the sun.

The release of the iPhone and iPod touch was such a special time for me. The jailbreaking scene was just getting started and it started my life long fascination with tinkering with technology.

Yeah, I guess when it comes down to it, if you want 100% control you have to pay for it yourself.

Ooh, I like this answer. If they pull it, you still have it. Can always post again.

I believe there are pros and cons for both. Imgur is great because you truly don't have to think about disk space or bandwidth. Imgur is not great because they can delete your posts at any time without warning and leave holes on the interenet, especially if we're talking 5, 10 , 20 years from now.

Should I invest in a beefy server to store all of my photo needs without storage anixety? Or should I just rely on a larger company to handle it for me? I think I'm already answering my own question by writing this post out, but I'd love to hear from the self hosting community.

I just visit the top Lemmy instances, sort by local category, and follow the ones I like on each instance. It doesn't matter if I follow 4 different channels called !technology cause I'll just get them all in my feed. I'm following self hosting on both lemmy.ml and lemmy.world and I get posts from both. I couldn't care less where it comes from, as long as I'm following I'm good to go.

There are many sites and list of large Lemmy servers right now. Just check out beehaw, lemmy.ml, lemmy.world, sh.itjust.works, etc.

I love how stock android looks but agree that it's become too iPhone like. One UI has become a great balance!

How stupid can you be? They were literally told ahead of time that the information was incorrect, and they doubled down anyway! Not admitting you're wrong is an epidemic and seriously needs to be taught more to children if we have any hope for the future.

Give it time. People who are joining lemmy/kbin for the first time are incredibly interested in disussing this particular topic. I think by the end of July, we'll truly start to see this community take shape.
