I recommend watching or listen this video at x1.4 playback speed. If you can't set the speed to this value, then at least watch at x1.25.

Description:

Graphics Cards can run some of the most incredible video games, but how many calculations do they perform every single second? Well, some of the most advanced graphics perform 36 Trillion calculations or more every single second. But how can a single device manage these tens of trillions of calculations? In this video, we explore the architecture inside the 3090 graphics card and the GA102 GPU chip architecture.

Note: We chose to feature the 30 series of GPUs because, to create accurate 3D models, we had to tear down a 3090 GPU rather destructively. We typically select a slightly older model because we're able to find broken components on eBay. If you're wondering, the 4090 can perform 82.58 trillion calculations a second, and then we're sure the 5090 will be even more.

Definitely read this title and thought “Oh great some positive climate change news” assuming they meant ‘plays’ as in ‘potential courses of action’, but upon clicking the article I realized they meant ‘plays’ as in live theater productions..

As a ‘front page of the internet’ it has been a pretty great replacement for me as it’s where I go each day to just see what’s going on. However, due to the smaller size you do lose a lot of the activity in more niche communities and the sheer volume of posts/comments compared to Reddit. That’s the biggest downside. Still, you also lose the incessant ads/bad UI/UX decisions and ever accelerating late stage capitalism driven enshittification so that’s a big plus.

Can you clarify what the problem is that this solves? Your charging cable wiggles too much when it is plugged into the top? If so, I don’t appear to have that issue at least that I’ve noticed.

Or you already use Proton Mail / Drive etc and want to save a bit of money with Proton Unlimited at 9.99 EUR/USD / mo. That’s why I switched from Mullvad. I do agree that overall though Mullvad is the best in terms of trustworthiness (so far as we know anyway)

The guardian article only summarizes a limited amount of the product test information. See here for more products that were tested: https://www.mamavation.com/health/condoms-lubricants-pfas-forever-chemicals.html#Not_Our_Favorite_Condoms

This kind of technocratic approach can sound great and it’s always good to have policy and positions formed by those most knowledgeable in the relevant field. The problem is that the “experts” that will likely have her ear will be the ones that are vetted and approved by the power elite, the wealthiest in this country who will largely recommend what is best to protect their privilege, wealth and position.

Not exactly what I was thinking of but still worth a sub!

TBH This might be a good enough idea to merit a whole community of people just posting singular cool screenshots of games they are playing. Could be a cool low-effort visual way to document what folks are into at the moment. Kind of like a visual version of those ‘what are you playing’ weekly threads that used to be everywhere.

This is the kind of news that should actually be posted on all of the ‘uplifting news’ communities, instead of ‘teen works 600 hours for minimum wage to help pay for his mother’s dialysis’ or whatever..

Been having fun and happy to see a gameplay balance patch so soon. That said, the technical side of this game is what really needs work and according to everything I’ve been seeing from Digital Foundry and others there’s some serious low hanging fruit that could improve the frame rate and pacing that is still pretty poor on all systems. Hopefully they bring some attention to that side of things soon. Game is certainly playable in the current state in my opinion but would be much more enjoyable if it actually stuck to something close to 60 FPS in most situations on XSX/PS5.

Also on Steam for the same price in case the trade off between having it with DRM but with an easier time installing on your Steam deck is worth it to you.

Yeah I have the Killswitch from Dbrand. It’s a great case and the travel cover makes the deck borderline indestructible. It is a bit pricey though at $75 but that also includes a kickstand (with built in microSD storage) and a skin of your choice. https://dbrand.com/shop/grip/steam-deck-cases
