The root cause is the supply not keeping up with demand. Any proposed solution that does not include building like mad is ultimately going to fall short.

I've been enjoying Ventusky for planning for rain gear when cycling. It's been good so far.
It's highly disturbing how the general public had a vastly different reaction to farmers blocking traffic to protest, as opposed to climate activists blocking traffic to protest.
Extremely nasty, in fact.
Ah yes, good old Rubber-hose cryptanalysis.
And yet, car insurance is too cheap in the U.S: https://thewaroncars.org/2024/03/19/122-car-insurance-is-too-cheap/
Cars are quite simply way too expensive, both on an individual and societal level.
People ride on the sidewalks for a simple reason: the roads do not feel safe enough for riding for them, because there are car drivers there behaving in a manner lethal to non-car drivers (and other drivers too fwiw).
All solutions begin with taking the lethal actor out of the equation. Anything else is needless victim blaming and can be dismissed without any more discussion.
Can't you just walk out the staffed checkout aisles without a receipt, or are they receipt-gated too?
My guess would be that taxis are a large fraction of that traffic, and that would be the first variable to turn down once those categories congest the system by themselves.
Less than worthless would be when exercised, not exercising would be worth 0 - unless you paid for the option contract, in which case not exercising would represent a loss.
Face value is unlikely to be the amount reported - I doubt the options are granted below the last reported market rate. Hence it's probably relative to the amount of underlying stock the options represent.
You'd have to check the SEC-filings for more accuracy than that.
Basically yeah. Cash-out time for the VCs.
Not to say that it's a sufficient penalty for the C-suite, but their compensation packages generally consist of stock options in the company, meaning that the share price decline following unexpected negative events translate into a large pay cut for them.
