i'm pretty sure i'm overthinking this but why does doom emacs have

SPC-c c for compiling

and SPC-c C for recompiling

i thought it should've been other way round as i generally put the command for compiling and then just keep recompiling repeatedly and i believe doing SPC-c c is faster than pressing SPC-c C

when so you either have four keys to press by doing SPC-c c to recompile

or you have to press four keys by doing SPC-c c assuming you press shift for C

what i prefer doing is using SPC-c c for recompiling only three keys to press

and SPC-c c for compiling normally

it's just a little thing annoying me whenever i go from one config of doom emacs to another

every person i've seen doesn't reconfigure this. but they do seem to be bothered by this they do realize how annoying it is but don't want to go through the hassle to remap that

what do you guys think am i too paranoid about this is my OCD kicking in or do you feel the same ?

idk what these icons symbolise i don't want any lavish gif as icons but these icons just don't make sense to me is there any font pack i have to modify or do i have to modify any icons file contents

i want to patch this issue i'm just annoyed with this issue at this point i have been using this since last two years i didn't care much to resolve this but now it's just annoying

i don't think i'll need elisp as i'm using emacs distribution

i want to learn basics elisp so that i can understand how to map keys how to send commands etc.

constructs that all beginners require

please don't send a 300 page pdf for elisp as i don't want to learn everything i just want a basic max 10 page rulebook for elisp

my teacher told me to use emacs and i love the experience so far thanks to the support from this community

i have not yet learned how to execute command like

menu-bar--display-line-numbers-mode-relative

i don't know how to

run tab-width command with and set it to 4 after using M-x to open dialogue box to run command

(i think it's called buffer not dialogue box)

so this is the level i'm at not much i know but i hope that emacs gods help me in finding true peace

i don't know why anyone would use emacs is what i thought first

but now i've developed an understanding about why people use it

now i want to switch to emacs but the learning curve is insane

is there a tutorial for learning to use emacs step by step because i want to learn emacs fast and the only way to do it is using a well guided video series i believe or maybe a well made website or blog post

because i now just get flustered when i start using emacs because there's so much to learn

what should i learn first is my question because just reading help document doesn't help a noob like me?

as of now i can only give around 3 hours to learn emacs but i would give more if i could

i have used neovim with lsp for 1 year now how much time would it take for me to be faster at emacs than i'm currently in vim?

i would really apprecitate the answer of highlighted question and the main question

also please don't give an answer like it would depend on many things ( of course it would depend on many factors)

but i want to know how much time would it take for you to be better at emacs you would have been at vim after learning it for around a year+

i am taking this very seriously and would really appreciate any suggestion to format the post

i have a habit of using vim but no experience on emacs

i love neovim but i've heard many people say that emacs is wayy better than neovim

in fact bill joy after creating vim said that he made a big mistake by creating vi

i have never seen that crazy fast dude who codes on emacs and just flies basically

i've always seen extremely fast people code on neovim and loved that i was part of that community

for me speed is topmost priority

i thought emacs loaded slow but now i see that emacs server makes emacs gui load faster ( wayy faster than conventional command)

is there a video you guys can link me of a user using emacs who is extremely fast and not just because of his typing speed but because he's using emacs

i would have to learn almost everything from scratch for using emacs

so please refer me post a convincing arguement there is nobody in my college who uses vim or emacs so i don't have anyone to look up to as of now so i don't know which choice is good for me

i want a video or a proof that emacs is wayy faster and efficient to code on than conventional vim

also should i use emacs in evil mode to be faster cause i believe nothing will beat vim motions
