A very long time ago, and much less technologically advanced:

I went to boarding school. We had a little bit of a propensity for sneaking out of the dorm at night.

New dean comes in our senior year and installs alarms on all the exits.

Our senior year time capsule contains the controlling keypad to that alarm system that wasn't even functional for twenty four hours.

I've no doubt that today's teens possess the ingenuity to bypass if not completely disable this thing.

I get to listen to clients go off on meandering rants about illegals, socialists, woke culture, the gays, the trans groomers, etc on a daily basis.

I go Joe Friday mode and stick to "just the facts" of what we're working on and I move on to the next crazy.

I don't know. Some people who experience abuse and escape it become far worse abusers when they're in position to do so.

Wizardry was great. I'll never understand how I lived in one of those ultra religious eighties homes that wouldn't let me play D&D but wizardry, Ultima, and bards tale were just fine.

Also in Texas because twenty years ago, my beloved wife HAD to have a house and there was no way in hell that was happening in California.

Today the wife is gone, the house is gone, the dogs are dead, and the daughter is grown and living in a far away civilized state that respects her right to exist.

And I'm still here. I pretty much don't leave the house anymore except to go to work and get groceries. So very, very tired of everything here, but no viable way out in the foreseeable future.

I used to work at a place where several partners were members of this church. The open disdain directed toward me for not being a churchgoer and the ostracization the occurred were a significant factor of my decision to leave.

After I left, one of the partners harassed me for several years via phone calls, text messages, and hand written letters mailed to my home trying to get me to turn my heathen ways around.

One of those letters said something asking the lines that while I had chosen eternal damnation for myself, I owed an opportunity of salvation to my daughter, so I needed to bring her to this church.

I don't remember how many years this continued, but it finally stopped.

The hell is the matter with these people?

I cast my first vote in 1990. It was the first and last time I ever voted for a Republican. Please forgive me. I was eighteen and raised under Reagan. I didn't yet know better.

Anywho, I concur with your assessment. We've fallen so very far.

I'd wager that his lease has a mandatory arbitration clause that requires him to pay up front then try to get it back via arbiters chosen by the landlord.

For all of his many, many, egregiously unforgivable faults, Henry Ford had it right in paying his workers above average wages. He seems like the only capitalist in history to understand the concept.

I think I read not too long ago that there are still bales of cash buried around Colombia that were never accounted for.

Biodiesel was gonna be the next big thing before EVs started gaining traction. Arnold drove around a Hummer that was modified to run on vegetable oil while he was governor.
