It's not murder when the rich do it.

You know that feeling you get when you look into your dog's eyes? The same parts of your dog's brain became active, so they're probably feeling similar emotions at that moment.

Larger platform changes such as ranking content based on quality, rather than engagement, might hit at the root of the problem

Wait, we shouldn't just let people create intentionally divisive outrage machines?

Some people love to dry hump strangers on a crowded bus or train, is that more like it?

I have to admit I don't understand what connection this has with paying for music apps.

I'm pretty sure if you're paying for it, that's not love.

Didnt we already know that elon opened starlink to the russians? I thought he announced after that call with putin?

Yep. Pence is the one with lady blinders, like a horse, to protect him from seeing things that might scare and confuse him.

My understanding is that a lot of the big agribusiness is structured as a monopsony - all the people farming a particular crop have only one big Ag company they all have to sell their produce to and that company sets the price low enough that the farmers doing the actual growing for Big Ag are still getting screwed.

Exactly. That's a service that some rich people could be making profit on and here we are just giving it away for the collective good of our society. Won't someone think of (financially screwing over) the farmers?

Yep! In my experience it's awful and it stays awful for ever.

But just like with going to work, over time you come to accept that existence is suffering.

This is too close to dishonest to be persuasive.

The word "occupied" is doing the heavy lifting, but saying "invaded & occupied" implies that they've done as little invading as occupying, which is not true.

The USSR isn't included, so the implication that socialism means 0 occupations is also untrue.

All states that identify as socialist have done fewer invasions than the US, as a combination of having existed for less time, having had less power during that time and -yes - having a slightly lower inclination to invade.

All powerful states abuse their power to unacceptable (if differing) degrees. That's the nature of hierarchical power. All nation states are vermin.

I'm not criticizing the author I'm criticizing the purpose that verbal tool was constructed for. It was designed to close off debate and that's the only way it's ever used.

It's the best example of what it's trying to describe. It's a hypocrite of a phrase, engaging in what it condemns.
