Just try it. Resize your Windows partition with the live USB you are going to use to install Linux and install it to there. Make it your default in your boot manager for a while and see how it goes. You can always have Windows as backup. If you decide to try it, don't forget that you are going to learn a new OS, not something tries to replace Windows as it is. Just an alternative tool.

Oh fk now thinking about it, me starting to use an Arch based distro and starting going to laser epilation pretty much happened at the same time period. Save me..

If you ever decide to host your own, via VPS or sth consider checking docker-mailserver and watchtower. First takes care of the mail stuff and the second updates your containers frequently so you will not have to manually update to new versions of the container (for security patches etc.).
