You know what's awesome about humor? Out of all the positive emotions, it's the only one that is never fully eaten by depression. I think that's kind of amazing about the human mind, that even in the deepest darkest pit, there is always some laughter to be found.
Oh, see, you're under the impression that this is about public safety. It's not. It's about giving insurance companies an excuse to deny claims.
Anyone who understands the concentration of CO2 in the air knows that these things are nothing but a PR stunt. You're not going to pull enough out of the air to have any meaningful contribution; there's just not a lot there to pull out. For all the harm it's causing, CO2 makes up a tiny part of air composition, only about 0.04%.
These things are built for idiots who think the solution is as simple as "just run the air through a filter" and don't grasp how much air there actually is, and how little there is to pull out.

I soured on it when a guy shows up to this hyper advanced, futuristic, utopian society and goes, "I challenge the king to combat, and you have to let me do it, and then when I win, you have to make me king." And everyone just shrugs like "Welp, thems the rules. Nothing we can do about it."
