I have driven a van with a cargo barrier, it was rated for 90KG. Do you know how heavy an ATV is? More than that.
The lashing points would also tear out in a big enough impact.
You're talking shit.

Automatic transmissions have shit torque out of the box
Absolute nonsense, the torque converter multiplies torque at low speed, so an automatic with the same gear ratios as a manual will have far more pulling power than a manual.
And a trans cooler is standard on pretty much any automatic vehicle.
I'm gobsmacked you haven't been downvoted into the dirt for that remark.
The Prius isn't a particularly small car though.
What about the back seat, with your lanky ass sitting up front?
How much leg room does the person behind you have?
This is a weirdly common issue in this sub, people dismissing one person's issue or use case offhand, because it doesn't align with their preconceptions.
Most small cars don't have anywhere near the leg room of a big vehicle, especially with multiple occupants.
Do many trades genuinely work out of Kei trucks? I feel a lot of people here don't understand just how tiny they are.
This post backfired spectacularly on OP, didn't it?
This place is like a zoo for stupid people, it's great.
Unless it's a pickup or ute, in which case burn it.
Vans, regardless of size, are OK though.
Probably don't have many ATVs either.
