Back in the day we used to call this price gouging or price fixing when the cost of an item would increase based on sudden demand, or due to an emergency, etc. That used to be illegal, but I guess it’s okay in fucking Mad Max world now.

Call their bluff. There’s a lot of money for this kind of service in the metro. Big rideshare is just trying to maintain the status quo.

The reasoning they gave me is exactly that. People driving like crazy post pandemic, and the fact that cars have become exponentially expensive.

My auto insurance rose 27% this year. My cars sit in a locked garage 20ft away from me practically all week long as I work from home. I was shocked to find my rates rose so high as I barely even drive at all anymore. Their solution was for me to get their data collection puck. What a fucking racket!

I do use Windows for a lot of specific programs, but this behavior is really pushing me to Linux and to find alternatives to the software I use.

LOL, This is the best financial unit of measurement to describe all government spending moving forward.

Frey isn’t going to last long here. Lots of Minnesotans dislike him across the political spectrum, for obvious reasons.

I was disengaged before becoming remote, and that has more to do with the lack of value my employer has for us than the work I’m doing or the location from which I do it from.

Pay us more, treat us like humans, stop catering to short term investors.

The worst was when some banks would reorder their transactions so everything posted before your paycheck. Even though I’d make my deposit before writing checks for rent, insurance, phone bill etc, magically all those clear before the deposit then I’d be like -$700 in the red before payday again. I went to the bank (TCF, now Huntington) to plead my case but they didn’t care. I closed my account there and went to a more reputable bank. Never was a problem again. Now the practice of banks reordering transactions is illegal, I believe.
