I don't know what it's gonna take for these major studios to recognize that gamers want FUN experiences that don't screw them over with a trash business model or shovel current-day political BS into everyone's face. People just want to play great games and feel respected as a customer. Not sure why that is so challenging to corps like this.

DEG Mods is catching up pretty quickly.

I've been talking about how ridiculous Nexusmods is for YEARS now. I'm just glad more people are turning on them.

Alternatives exist. While Nexus definitely has an edge in terms of features, there are some competitors rapidly catching up (eg DEG Mods). This announcement was just the motivation needed to get more people considering leaving that cesspit of a platform.

UAD or Canta. Two really good options for phones you can't run a custom ROM on.

Best option I know of is MeWe but it's not a 1:1. Does have some pretty solid group features though.

I'm not fundamentally AGAINST the EGS but Epic is not a good company and saying that they have a ton of work to do is the understatement of the century.

I guess that's a fair point. Ultimately, I'm not interested in caring that much about whether or not a platform can read my messages. I just don't want them to be able to be accessible if there's a data breach. I would never use these platforms' private messages for anything that is remotely sensitive but it's generally a good idea to keep messages away from data breaches as much as possible.

I think people are missing the way this is actually a win. Obviously, nobody should be using it as their primary communication, just as nobody should be using FB Messenger as their primary communication. However, just like when Messenger added E2EE, having encrypted DMs on X is just smart. Less of a burden on a company in the event of data breaches and likewise less of a concern for individuals. It also means that normies have a slightly reduced risk of leaks.

Again, obviously no one SHOULD be using X for private conversation but having any form of E2EE on DMs is a win in my book.

The Dreamcast has such a utopian vibe to it that just fits nice weather!

I think part of what makes it special is how it shows gamers what the potential of 3D offered. With the blocky polygons and blurry textures of the N64, Nintendo gave high-res renders to show gamers the future. Almost like a "See how far we've come? This render is where we're headed so jump on board!"
