Unfortunately, it looks like WP, fandom and Mindoki thumbnails / art are no longer automatically appearing for me. I think that *might* just be a Chrome issue, though, which I really shouldn't be using anymore.

Btw, I wonder if it might help your server if you uploaded your photos & art to Imgur. Lemmy sites don't seem ideal for hosting such content, it seems to me. The only caveat would be to create an Imgur account for yourself, as content can be removed, otherwise.

PTT, you delightful bastard, you, you...

You win this round, sir.

Thanks for commenting, and I was hoping it might lead to some interesting discussion.

If I may ask-- did you feel like Gerrold was too harsh in particular towards Roddenberry?

I've leafed through this one and thought it to be good work, only there's one problem-- I'm kinda stuck on the Norse mythos being much grimmer in tone. Too bad, because I do like the genre. I found Walt Simonson's work on Thor, for example, to be just superb, altho that must be... decades old at this point. And of course, an American-Marvel product.

Just out of curiosity, what is it that you dislike about that site? Ads, presumably?

I run a script-blocker, so maybe I'm not seeing the same as you. To me, it pretty much just looks like an alt of WP.

I have the Rodier version, but I'm not sure I've ever seen the original 'notes' version. I'm also curious to see what some of the other guest artist-finished versions look like.

One thing I'm still unsure about is if the main villain was indeed intended to be Rastapopoulos in disguise by Hergé. Anybody know..?

Hmm... To Be, or *Not* To Be, a Total Heretic?

Yes, chronological.

Tome & Janry

Haha, see what I mean? :P

we can read Norwegian, Swedish and Danish all the same

Wow, interesting.
"English" is of course based on olde West Germanic, so it's not that hard to figure out a few modern German words here and there, and then Dutch kinda leads me down that same path, a tiny bit?

But the three Scandi languages... hmm, I guess they're not "West proto-Germanic" in origin, is that right?

So many series got partially translated and “ended” by the local distributors

Bah, I know that pain.
Part of why I'm deadset on learning French. Like-- go to the source, because the source can never be taken away from you.

Or something like that, lol.

Very neat, with the style being familiar but a bit “off” compared to what I’m used to (Franquin, Fournier)

Oh man... so many people have worked on Spirou:

it reminds me of dark chocolate, bitter but very flavorful.

Well dang, as a lover of dark chocolate, now I feel disappointed in myself. :S

the only series of his translated to my local language

Hmm, may I ask what that would be?
On my end, English is technically my third language, but I didn't spend enough time in S.America and Europe for my Castellano and French to get very good. I'm having a pretty good time with DuoLingo though, en ce qui concerne la française. :D

Canardo was a bit... much for me, but I'm intrigued by his other work, starting with Kraa. Anything in particular you recommend?
