Oi-- one thing I never really understood, and maybe you can help me--

Is "Blanc-Sec" meant to be literally be "dry-white," like fresh-made (skinless grape) wine, or is it possibly a metaphor..?

My favorite video-game of all times and across genres is definitely FTL - Faster Than Light, a classic of the roguelite (not roguelike) genre.

Ooh, I love RL's to death (any variety), and have heard about FTL since forever.

Nico, could you recommend me a reliable way to use one's credit card in a secure way? I used to have PayPal, but my acct lapsed with unused activity.

My favorite adventure is Disco Elysium

Hmm, do you think it would work for a slowpoke like me..?

More later?
Anyway, thanks for the feedback, bro! ^^

EDIT: Wait wait wait... if you happen to know a good "tall ships" game, then please add on? I'd totally forgotten about the film below.

I think I was too immature to appreciate it at the time, but in retro, I find it absolutely astonishing:

May I ask what games do you (did you) like to play?

As an older fellow with weak health, I quite like puzzles / adventures / strategy games. Also, I've preserved a bunch of Flash classics that can still be easily played today. Some of them are surprisingly good for essentially being throwaway / free games.

Or if you have an Android device, I did a little roundup here.

Anyway, I think that playlist would suit me best for FPS's (like Quake 3A) or "Armagetron" (3D light-cycle racing inspired by the classic film "Tron"). Ah, those were the days... 🥴

Okies, finally got my Spotify going.
Was pretty surprised to see the name "Kurzgesagt," as that appears to be the very same folks who make awesome little videos about the cosmos, which I watch on YT.

I liked the first tune, and in fact listen to stuff like that all the time. An example is this cool channel which combines audio from the NASA missions with such background music:

Second tune was a bit bland for me, but I'll be checking out the playlist next; thanks! :D

I appreciate how Jodo mixed fantasy, legends and reality with just the perfect ratio in The White Lama. This makes the story feel profound and yet spectacular.

Excellent summary.
Well said. ^^

I really enjoyed this series!

Altho it certainly had some fantasy elements, it also spoke to the Buddhist fandom I was on at the time, which got kicked off by Osamu Tezuka's brilliant Buddha series.

I also really appreciated how the one Buddhist temple was shown to be thoroughly corrupt, reminding us that even some wonderful teachings can be used by unscrupulous individuals for their own ends. Indeed, as I understand it, there's been some history of violence between different sects, not unlike as with Catholics & Protestants, etc. ("only our way is the true way")

Just heard that one the other day by "PostModern Jukebox." Good stuff.

Wish I could say that I loved all the rearrangements, but it's not always true. Sometimes something essential is lost, with not enough compensation. Still a great project, tho.

The busyness of many of these gives me real Richard Scarry vibes.

Haha, interesting comparison!
I certainly hadn't made that connection, but I think I see what you mean, and do still love the Scarrys' work even as a middle-ager.

Btw, I got a bit lazy with titles and stuff, so thanks for sharing context on the Mad Max piece!

Her English-version Gemma Bovary book was not just a cool, innovative work, but it also helped me make a significant breakthrough in my French learning.

Unusually, it combined typical BD panels with medium-length text passages. The panels would be sprinkled with easy/medium-hard French, but then the passages would fully explain what was going on. I've never quite seen that before in any learning medium, and *knock on wood* I'll make a post about it one day.

LOL, good stuff.

So he was one of the artists who worked with Jodo on the Incal universe, is that right?

I love that self-observing commentary, which incidentally begs the question-- what did Moeby's artist & writer contemporaries think about the man and his work..?

Oh dear; I don't have Spotify.
They seem to need a signup of my personal info, and that's still a NYET from me.
