Everyone's favorite show from the 90s
I dunno, man.. I remember the Newsradio cast a bit differently.

most of these series are stand-alone volumes with almost no connections with the previous ones.
yes, that was my experience from reading the first four or so
ah, so you started with the earliest in chronology, even though this was the third in series - sounds like a plan. i've only read a few of these so far.
excellent notes, and i never knew the piranesi connection. milo manara did a crazy 'piranesi prison planet' book as i recall, but i've no idea if there's any connection.
LOL! Oh gosh, you're right. oO
Definitely. For example, in the Lucky Luke segment, Luke is reduced to being a catatonic basket case, and later we see Ma Dalton serving her boys a delicious roast, which turns out to be the remains of Jolly Jumper. Très sauvage.
Btw, do you happen to know who the sixth character is in the pic?
i watched a preview and that looks very interesting
i see there's a dubbed version of the movie on youtube, but any idea if there's a version with english subtitles on the internet?
Wow, what an eye for detail. oO Are you a biker, mein herr?
Interesting you point out the omissions, as it brings us to a certain classic principle in art, as in-- how much detail to go for vs. how much to omit? Personally I tend to be a fan of 'less is more,' while at the same time trying to persuade the viewer that 'it feels like all the necessary detail is still there.'
There's also the situation of too much detail potentially weighing an image down, making it feel too 'busy' compared to the rest of the piece. For example, it's possible that adding the brake cables and spokes would have unbalanced the image, bringing attention to the figure of the ~~old gargoyle~~ Madam Cru, who might look under-detailed in that case. Just a theory, anyway. You know I'm always up for talking about art. ^^
Thanks for explaining!
You know, this post makes a nice companion to my earlier Evolution of Spirou post: https://lemm.ee/post/7758076
Funny, despite Gaston being the icon here, I've never read one of his albums. Er, I assume there were albums, like Spirou..?
I greatly appreciate that, señor. ^^
I also like your contributions here, as well. They help me and the community out, a lot.
Okay, I've added Varela and Carlos Nine to the list of major Argentinian artists to our FAQ. Seriously-- how could I forget Carlos Nine? (yo soy idiooota)
Tame? Hmm, that's interesting. Dare I ask for examples?
I think part of why I admire these is because I'm something of an amateur zoologist who ordinarily feels protective of animals and habitats, but this guy's amazing penwork, proportions and attention to details really won me over.
So-- looking through the book makes me a bit uncomfortable at times, but I also feel like the man put a level of loving care in to these crazy... "caricatures," or whatever they're best called.
